I was listening Sirrius NFL radio today and caught a bit of a discussion about the Jets's LT, D'Brickashaw Ferguson. He said (and I quote):

"D'Brickashaw, and I'm being kind here, is a work in progress. They can't leave him alone in protection."

ouch.
 
It's kind of surprising, he was one of the prospects considered a "lock", if I remember correctly. They got a better o-lineman at the bottom of the round in Nick Mangold.

seems like before last year, a lot of highly thought of OTs have really struggled. Mike Williams,Robert Gallery, and Ferguson to name a few. I guess you can put Levi Brown in their too because he's a RT drafted in the top 5.

I don't think Jake will be a bust, but let's hope he goes the Joe Thomas way.

I haven't watched much of the Cardinals. Though the thinking with taking him at 5 was that Leinart would be the Qb. So having him at RT would make sense.

Ferguson has been bad. I do like Mangold and they spent a bunch for Faneca. So really he's gotta show something by the end of the year.
 
I'm surprised Eric Winston has turned out so well for the Texans...I didn't think he'd amount to much given his last year at UM.

He's been one of the top T's to come from that class.
 
I haven't iso'd alot on Brick but I known favre has had plenty of time to throw all season so I am happy w/ the pass protection. The run blocking has been a disappointment though.
 
Has this guy Pat watched any Jets games this year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This makes me mad!!!!! I've watched every Jets game, and Brick has been OUTSTANDING in pass protection!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He has been lock down all year so far!!!!!!! WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Saying we can't leave him by himself? ALL WE DO IS LEAVE HIM BY HIMSELF!!!!!!!!! How does this guy get money for saying crap like that? That has to be the most ignorant statement, because Brick has been playing at a high level all season so far! The Jets best OL by far so far this year....... This guy must be on crack...... Ferguson has been 1 on 1 with the DE this year, and he has won that battle every time..

AGAIN HE HAS BEEN GREAT IN PASS PROTECTION ALL YEAR!!!!!!! LOCKING HIS GUY DOWN FOR 6+ SECONDS! This guy Pat Kirwin is a moron......... I'll admit when a Jets player is doing bad, but this has to be the most ignorant statement by a NFL "expert" I've ever seen..... Ferguson has out played Mangold and Faneca so far this year, thats just how good Ferguson is becoming.


Sorry for the caps, but this just made me mad. Someone saying something completely stupid about my team....
 
I think you guys already know the benefits, or lack thereof, of having Tony Freaking Wise as your OL coach. Brick has been improving steadily under Callahan this year.

Wise did a good job in '06, brick had a good rookie year. I don't care who the OL coach was a year ago w/ the guys we had at LG and RT we wern't going to succeed. Wise was the OL coach for Maimi when Ricky had his only gfreat season and I believe Wise was the OL coach for the Cowboy dynasty of the 90s.
 
You guys can judge Ferguson for yourselves if you watch a replay of the Jets vs Cardinals game on NFL Network.It would be good to anyway because you play the Cards and can see what they are all about.Ferguson has been dominant in the passing game and just ok in the running game.He mauled Travis Laboy all game one on one and anyone else they threw at him.He has been a stud since we signed Faneca and he doesn't have to try to do the left guards job along with his too.

His struggles last season were directly attributable to the piss poor left guard playing next to him last year.He is exactly what every expert predicted he would be coming in the draft,a stud.:hi5:
