Ok, I've mentioned it before and believe it or not I have a pretty close friend who plays WR in the NFL(not on the phins). Anyway whenever I talk to him I always get his opinions on Miami, and this was what he had to say this time......
"Miami's defense is probably the best in the league right now, and Jason Taylor is without question the NFL's defensive MVP so far" He also said that Miami's offense is the only thing holding them back, that basically they have trouble running the ball at times, and when that happens they don't do a very good job at passing either. Said that Chris Chambers must be the most frustrated WR in the league, and it's amazing that he hasn't completely blown up or asked to be traded in the offseason yet. When I asked him to elaborate on this comment he said......
"You can't tell me Chambers isn't getting open, and you have NO IDEA how frustrating it is to keep getting open but the QB doesn't get you the ball. Hell a good WR doesn't even have to be open if it's one on one coverage just throw the ball where it's possible to get our hands on it, and we will make a play" He also said that Joey Harrington was not that bad, and he "Can" get the ball downfield, he just doesn't know why it hasn't happened. Everything else I talked to him about was just about his team, and his family and all that, anyway....... any Comments???

Wish you would have asked him about our oline because IMO that's the reason Chambers isnt getting thrown too

Your friend is obviously very knowledgeable and I couldn't agree with him more. I just think Harrington is more comfortable with the shorter passes than the long because he doesn't have to hold the ball as long.

Chambers has over 50 catches this year. He's one of the most thrown-to receivers in the NFL.

The problem lies in the emphasis on the short passing game, thanks to both an offensive coordinator who's reluctant to stretch the field, and the team being in the position of having to start a #2 QB whose downfield throws aren't accurate.

Well then why is Booker getting the deep pass thrown his way. IE Sunday.

Is your friend campaining to come to the Phins next season? Come on tell us... who is he?

LoL, I don't like to say who he is, but NO he's not coming to Miami although at one time in his career he did Want to play there. You better believe I was trying to convince him too......LOL. There is a very old thread here somewhere probably with me trying to convince everybody this was the guy Miami needed to get in the offseason. Although I was obviously biased to this player, and there have been plenty of players I REALLY wanted Miami to get TO being one of them :mindwarp: LOL

Umm I only remember one "deep" pass to booker, and it was all of what 25-30 yards??? Booker also had to outjump a DB to catch it. I will admit that throw was pretty good though....... Joey put it out far/high enough to where the DB wasn't gonna be able to get it, but that was a GREAT catch by Booker.

I've been impressed with how Chris Chambers has been quiet about this problem toward the media, I'm sure he has said some stuff in house however. I don't blame him one bit... He has been getting open this year, and isn't getting the ball. If he does have the ball thrown toward him, its well off the mark. That builds frustration there, now everytime he gets thrown the ball he thinks of trying to make a huge play before he catches the ball, and drops it. Its all a domino effect, frustration makes you play worse until you let go of that frustration, which he hasn't had an opportunity to do. To those who say he doesn't have much talent, I just have to ask, was last year just a fluke? I certainly don't think so...

Hopefully he sticks around next year to see if he can rebound, but if not, he'll go to another team and have success.

he failed to mention taht on numerous occasions when the qb HAS gotten him the ball, he's dropped it while Booker and Welker continue to catch it.
