Last year by years end, we could beat almost any team in the league, not saying we would but we had a chance against anyone. We were hot! There was one team that I knew without a doubt we had no shot at. That would be the friggn Ravens. I hate em but that D was intense. So now I ask, are the '09 Jets, the '08 Ravens?

DT-
Ravens had Ngata who started for Gregg
-He absolutely annihilated Satele and that whole interior Oline last year.
Jets have Kris Jenkins.
-Jenkins is really good but I will say Grove has shown last year he can handle the big man and this is the EXACT game we signed Grove for.
EDGE- Ravens

DEs-
Marques Douglas and Shaun Ellis
-Ellis is a good 3-4 end. He's good at getting to the QB but so far this year, he's been pretty quiet. Douglas was a backup for the Ravens last year.
-Trevor Pryce and (correct me if I'm wrong) Justin Bannan started. Pryce, imo is underrated and is comparable to Ellis. Bannan, although a backup, was the better of he and Douglas last year.
EDGE-Ravens

Linebackers-
This is where I see a huge difference.
Jets- Thomas, Scott, Harris, Pace (suspension lifted)
Ravens-Johnson, Lewis, Scott, Suggs
Many people might not say this but Im gonna go out and say HUGE advantage for Ravens. Lewis alone creates a huge game changing ability that the Jets dont have. Scott, being the leader is good and all but he is no Ray Lewish. Terrel Suggs is 10 times beter than Gholston who has been awful and is still better than Pace. Bryan Thomas (who?) is nowhere near the talent level of Jarrett Johnson who I think is kinda underrated.
Edge- Huge for Ravens

Corners-
Jets-Darrelle Revis, Lito Sheppard (injured?), Dwight Lowery
Ravens- Fabian Washington, Corey Ivey, Samari Rolle
Huge advantage for Jets. Revis is becoming the new shutdown corner. Its quite amazing what he has done to Moss, Johnson and Colston. Good news for Fins is that we dont have a go-to guy so we dont rely on a #1 guy. If Sheppard cant go, that would be good news.
Edge- Huge for Jets

Safeties-
Jets- Kerry Rhodes, Jim Leonhard
Ravens- Ed Reed, Jim Leonhard
Advantage Reed. He is on another level. Rhodes is good and all but Reed is a game changer.
Edge- Ravens

So with all this said, although Jets seem like an intimidating defense with Rex Revis has been huuuge for the Jets.
Jets are awesome against pass and just average versus the run.
Ravens were good against the pass and top 5 against the run.

Conclusion..
As good as the Jets may seem, the '08 Ravens were better. Dont forget too, that the '08 Ravens offense was much more effective than the '09 Jets. Jets Oline this year is very overrated. Mark Sanchez is playing ok ball but he is no Flacco and doesnt have a Derrick Mason to go to. I like our chances with our elite run game to equalize the blitzing the Ravens use. Miss on the blitz and our running backs can get huge chunks of yards. I dont care if Henne throws the ball away all day, just NO turnovers for him. Let field position and our run game get us an ugly W.

nice write up but thats revis whose shutting guys down not sheppard

Jenkins is better han Ngata and at the absolute worst they would be even.

I think DEs are even.

The Ravens get the edge at LB b/c of Lewis and Suggs but we have the best ILB duo in the game this year and we haven't even played a game w/ Calvin pace yet and our d has been dominant.

I can agree about the secondary.

You can say the Ravens are better player for player but our D is playing better. Our D has allowed just NINE PPG facing some of the NFL's top offenses. last year in 2 games against a mediocre Miami O the Ravens allowed 11 PPG.

mark Sanchez is no Flacco?

after 4 games:

Sanchez: 63-110, 744 yds, 4 TDs, 5 INTs, 71.2 rating, 3-1 record, led O to 19 PPG

Flacco: 62-106, 603 yds, 1 TD, 4 INTs, 61.95 rating, 2-2 record, led O to 17 PPG

Sanchez has a Jerricho Cotchery to go to who is 5th in the NFL in rec yds. last year Mason had 80 recs, 1037 yds, 13 avg., 5 TDs and Cotch is on pace for 92 recs, 1424 yds, 4 TDs

I'm just glad we're playing this one at home, you(s) guys have been on a tear, I think any advantage we can get, we'll take. I honestly think you can throw every stat out the window. This game will be decided by the players, not the schemes.

this post screams....."man i hope that jets defense isn't for real, so let me try to discredit them by doing a player by player analysis of them vs. last years ravens....cause y'know those ravens made our team look terrible and i'm just grasping at anything i can in hopes that the jets don't come her eon monday night and embarass us like the ravens did". idk if you've looked at the production of the ravens defense this year compared to the jets defense this year. the biggest difference? ryan is here and not there anymore. and we've been playing without our best olb (who is a significant upgrade over bust gholston) who just happens to be our best pass rusher and a beast against the run. i know you guys are trying to find any angle that proves you're gonna come out, punch us in the mouth, run the ball down our throats, and win. but it's just not likely.

i think this years Jets team is better at pressuring the QB, while the Ravens team was better at stopping the Run...

both are good as a whole, but the bread and butter of each is different... i think we matchup better with this years Jets team because they haven't shown they can be dominant against the run, they have given up an average of 140 yards rushing the past two games, and though it hasn't necessarily lead to points on the board, it shows they have had trouble in that regard...

i think our rushing attack can have success against them that we were unable to have against the Ravens... though i also think our Oline is 10x better than it was last year against the Ravens and we'd be able to run with more success on them this year as opposed to last year

sanchez is no flacco, being a dolphin fan in baltimore I see all the ravens games and sanchez is not even close to flacco!!!!!!! Don't let the stats fool you, flacco was not allowed to air the ball out and the plays called were very cautious which handcuffed what flacco could do. As much as I wish the dolphins had that sure shot franchise QB (maybe they do in henne but only time will tell) the Ravens have that with Flacco he is the REAL DEAL!!!! Sanchez is not, go tell him to take some more pics with his shirt off!!!! WHAT QB DOES THAT!!!!!!!! F*GGOT

Agree Sanchez is not Flacco. I would like to see Sanchez be more handcuffed the way Flacco was early on. I think it really helped to let the game slow down for him a bit before he was asked to do too much.

Then again to handcuff Sanchez would require TJ to gain positive yards so there goes that idea :)

Sanchez is ahead of where Flacco was through 4 games. You could deny it all you want, why should you let facts get in the way of your argument.

is this supposed to hold any relevance? im not sure what it matters? 4 games is 4 games. Flacco took his team to the playoffs, i doubt the Jets will make the playoffs this year. Theyre 3-1. Nothing to go crazy about. It could be 3-2 after this week.

It only doesn't hold relevance because no facts seem to hold relevance around here. It could be 3-2 after this week but more likely it will be 4-1, with the hardest part of our schedule behind us. The next 4 games including Monday night are games the Jets should win.

how do you feel about the phins chances of making the play-offs?

i get its a fact...what does the fact prove? he had a better FIRST 4 games than Flacco? he could tank and do terrible from here on out...thats the point im trying to make. What does it matter what hes done in 4 games. He hasnt looked outstanding, most rookies dont but you cant compare someone to someone else who has succeeded after a measly 4 games.

why? because your a jets fan? or is there "fact" that im missing on this one too? because last time i checked anyone can win on any given day, thats the reason they play the games...

how do you feel about the phins chances of making the play-offs?

i think theyre pretty good if they win the rest of their games...

now really...when did i ever say they were gonna make the playoffs? all i said was the Jets were NOT gonna make them...i know that was an attempted "zing" at me about being 1-3 but it means nothing because im realistic. I know where were at right now and how hard it is to come back from being 0-3, now were at 1-3 with a hard schedule ahead of us. Dolphins have a chance to win every game, will they? probably not...thats talking realistically...something jets fans dont know much about because they just talk s*** just to hear themselves talk.
