So what do you think? Chris Long is the clear cut number 1 pick IMO.

clear cut, not hardly.

I wholeheartedly disagree with that opinon.

How is he clear cut the selection? .2 and .1 respectively in two drills and he's the clearcut?

he may be in the running, but to say he is the clear choice I just don't buy.

please don't play the he's howies son card with me, (too many other people using that)

whats with this thumb injury? when is the last time he played ball? did he miss time with the thumb injury in his last game?
A guy with an acclaimed motor, and he can't deal with a little pain in his thumb to pump some iron?
not buying it.

I think are both in the running along with matt ryan, sedrick ellis and perhaps the other long. But I guess I just don't see a clear winner here.

Not basing this off the info.

Long has great burst of speed and fluid hips. I think he plays at a higher level than Gholston. Gholston looked pretty good in the coverage drill.

Now I would be fine with either or because your getting a future Pro Bowler.

I'm really torn.

I'm still torn b/w gholston and Long. Long is the safer pick but Gholston has freakish potential. I guess I'll go with Long since this team is in dire need of a sure thing and I think Long is better against the run than Gholston and considering how awful our run d was this past season Long should be the pick.

BTW with JT and Porter manning the OLB spots one of them has to go for either Long or Gholston.

Imo Gholston is stronger and better long speed. Long is quicker and more instinctive.

Groves needs to be mentioned here. I'd compare Groves to Ware, and Gholston to Merriman. I like Jake Long, a lot. Watching him on tape, he really is an amazing player. He has plenty of moves, and he's got tremendous initial quickness that translates well on the field. He had a couple of issues with big time LTs but he's proven that he does well with good coaching. I feel right now he could step in and be a solid performer, and with good coaching he'd be a pro bowler.

Gholston's stock is rising but it may be the non stop motor of Chris Long that wins over Parcells and Co.

..What jumped out at me was the bench press, goes to show just how strong Gholston and Long are, I would take either one. gholston is the better athlete faster and stronger, Long has a motor that can frusterate opposing Qb's.

Well I just watched the interview at NFL.com and he said he is going to all the drills at his pro day on March 7th. He said he wants to improve his 40 (he wants it to be around 4.4!!) Wasn't happy with his Bench thinks he can do better, same with his Vert.

Wow I like that. Wants to improve even more.

Not as the number 1 pick. I believe now he is a 1st rounder.

Is this Gholston or Long?

I have been looking at all the Chris Long posts and all the time I have been thinking about Adalius Thomas. I don't know that this is the right point to interject this, but I wanted to get it out there.

If you look, Long is in many ways similar to Thomas. He would be immensly versatile in a defense that wished to present multiple looks with the same personnel on the field. He might not be "the best" OLB or "the best" DE, but he probably is capable of playing well at both spots (especially on passing downs) and might be the same type of asset as Thomas. I don't know what the Dolphins ultimate defensive plan will be, but maybe they will take a page from New England.

Just a thought.

MajPain were u EVER questioning if he was a first rounder??

Oh my God. Do you go thread to thread telling people you don't like Chris Long? Might as well put it in your sig and save yourself some time.
As for the thumb injury, if it hinders him then his stock could drop and he could lose a few million dollars. Waiting until his pro day sounds like the smart choice to me.

Who Long or Gholston?

No I thought both would go top 7.

Groves however I thought was borderline on becoming a 1st rounder. His Combine helped him big time.
