With the franchise tag over and done there are four LT's who appear to be hitting FA in a week. A closer look.

Eugene Monroe (26)- 801 snaps with Balt, #10 LT overall, pass block grade of 14.5, screen block grade of 0, run grade of 6.1, gave up 4 sacks, 3 hits, and 17 hurries, had 4 penalties with 2 accepted.

Jared Veldeer (26)- 1111 snaps in 2012. #10 LT, pass grade- 11.3, screen- 2.0, run- 5.1, gave up 6 sacks, 7 hits, and 22 hurries, had 5 penalties with 2 accepted.

Brandon Albert (29)- 800 snaps, #17 LT, pass grade- 14.4, screen- -0.5, run -2.4, gave up 4 sacks, 6 hits, and 13 huries, had 9 penalties with 0 accepted.

Anthony Collins (28)- 592 snaps, #15 LT, pass grade- 12.8, 0.5 on screens, run -2.3, gave up 0 sacks, 0 hits, and 17 hurries. had 1 penalty with 0 accepted.

Monroe is the clear #1 choice here as a complete LT and only 26. I'm guessing that he gets $9M a year, maybe more.

Veldeer would be at least his equal if not for the injury last year but, is still only 26. Hard to even guess what he will get, maybe around #7M or, maybe a 1 year deal.

Albert has injury problems, and is not VG on the run but, is VG is pass protect. I Think he wants $9-10M a year, which I would not pay.

Collins has to be judged on a half a year's work, although VG, and is 28. I don't know his value but to put a number would guess around $6M.

No way is Veldheer only getting 7 million on a 1 year deal

collins is 29??? well if that's right that will effect his market

I was just guessing on $7M OR a one year deal, with not knowing if he is fully recovered. Just look at what Grimes did, and he was better than Veldheer.

The raiders have over $60MM in cap space, uncertainties at Rb and likely a rookie or second year QB. There's no way they allow Valdheer to walk.

I'd actually prefer him over Monroe with monies being close

veldheers the ideal fit to me if he can stay healthy and there in lies the rub but the raiders have never had a problem spending and overspending on their own especially...i doubt it's gonna change with veldheer...

Here's one of a few reads I have seen on Valdheer. It would appear that there is a bit of friction there, and that he will be allowed to test FA. IF 100% healthy, he and Monroe are pretty much a toss up.

veldheer also can play center...did so when he first came in the league...before he moved to left tackle believe it or not...so there's position versatility there also...not that we'd ever move him from left tackle to center unless he was playing like butt at tackle but anyways added value

I thought the same, and that the Raiders would tag him. Now, not so sure. Maybe they have questions on his recovery from injury. If he does hit FA, all the better for us.

they may have some long term concerns there but i dont think he would have played last year when he did if they felt like that tricep was not right...they may have some questions about toughness etc who knows...

but i watched veldheer play in the thanksgiving game his first game back vs dallas to see how he'd look in case we did get a sniff this offseason and i was very impressed with what i saw fit wise if he played for miami...no rust...athletic...could tell he took his conditioning serious while he was out...who knows could have been motivated due to free agency thus he busted it to get back on the field...

he's underrated as far as i'm concerned...provided you are getting a medically cleared player...

Just say no...to Fat Albert.

I wanted to trade for Albert last year to help Tannehill develop, and he was the only option. Now, he would be my fourth choice of the four.

we have a similar athlete to veldheer still in the building right now...will yeatman...it just sucks that the light bulb hasn't come on there enough yet or we'd have our left tackle for the long term...they are very similar physically...same good movement skills feet etc...benders...great size

I remember that game as well, and was thinking the same as you. He did look good, and don't think he gave up any pressure at all. IF healthy, it's a toss up for me between him and Monroe, then Collins, then Albert.
