I thought this article was good enough to post. I like what moves we have made but the contracts seem questionable with the jump in amounts from year one to year two. Its a david Hyde Article. Thoughts?

Nothing against what the Dolphins have done thus far, which is make some necessary free-agent moves. But New England paid an elite player an elite (but risk-minimized) contract. Who would you rather have: 31-year-old (in July) Brent Grimes at a fair price of four-years, $32 million ($17 million guaranteed)? 28-year-old Aqib Talib at a scary price of six years, $57 million ($26 million guaranteed) like Denver gave him?Or 28-year-old Darrelle Revis at one year and $12 million like New England?

I would take Grimes, you have him for at least 2 yrs (probably more like 3 rs) for 17 million, Revis is better but will cost you 12 million this yr and if you keep him next yr at 16 million that's 28 million over 2 yrs......11 million more for Revis...Revis is the best but I will settle for very good with an extra 11 million to spend elsewhere.....

I thought the Pats had a team option on Revis for 20 mill next year?

Teams that have elite QB's that are in win now mode because the window is closing on them can sign contracts like that.

Who gives a **** about the man who came in from the cold. ....

Revis wasn't coming to Miami so we got the best player willing to play for us.

God, everybody needs to get over Belichick. He is a FAR better coach than GM. The Pats are probably going to have gotten worse, not better, this offseason. Revis for Talib is an upgrade, but at a large cost hit. They will lose Wilfork and Spikes and probably Edleman. Belichick cannot draft for **** so why is everyone getting carried away?

Belichick is doing what Shula did for years - taking an average roster talent-wise and making it into a playoff team via superior coaching and systems. However, as we saw with Shula after the mid 70s, it is very hard to win a Superbowl this way. And like Shula, Belichick is part of the problem because he cannot accept that his is only an average evaluator of talent.

Why does Belichick get all the credit when they sign somebody? Do they even have a GM?

Don't you all know that no matter who NE signs or releases it will be hailed as a stroke of genius amongnst the forest of other pedestrian teams? I'm surprised they didn't declare NE the champions of free agency signing Revis.

Not even comparable.....
NE is in win now mode, Miami is building
If dolphins made this deal, everybody would call it a stupid move and maybe with reason.
With this been sed I take Grimes for 3 year than Ravis for one.

This is the problem with the local media. They only know one thing to do and that is to take a dump on every move the Dolphins make.

When a player signs a contract in other cities you see positive articles, but here no matter who the player is or what the contract is they will

take a dump on the player and on the contract too. The questions that they ask Hickey are embarrassing. It's been fun watching him politely give patent answers

and disregard the shallow, mindless negativity

So true.
