Comparison to Belicheck

God, everybody needs to get over Belichick. He is a FAR better coach than GM. The Pats are probably going to have gotten worse, not better, this offseason. Revis for Talib is an upgrade, but at a large cost hit. They will lose Wilfork and Spikes and probably Edleman. Belichick cannot draft for **** so why is everyone getting carried away?

Belichick is doing what Shula did for years - taking an average roster talent-wise and making it into a playoff team via superior coaching and systems. However, as we saw with Shula after the mid 70s, it is very hard to win a Superbowl this way. And like Shula, Belichick is part of the problem because he cannot accept that his is only an average evaluator of talent.

Whoa settle down there buddy. Just tryin to see what ppl thought of their personnel / contracts vs. Ours and comparing them to the best team in our division. He is relevant to compare to because that is who we are trying to beat first and foremost in order to take the next step. I don't believe I even mentioned "coaching wise" and neither did the article. But he does have a lot of say on the personnel who gets brought in, which is why he is mentioned in the post

I don't think you need a $16M or even a $12M a year cornerback to compete. I want a well balanced team and with our needs, investing $12M+ in Revis after giving Grimes $8M makes a balanced approach much harder to do.

The Pats are putting their chips all in the middle of the table for a win now approach to next season.

Where have I heard that before? Hmmm....
Oh yeah, last year ...and the year before that ...and the year before that. :bobdole:

Don't you all know that no matter who NE signs or releases it will be hailed as a stroke of genius amongnst the forest of other pedestrian teams? I'm surprised they didn't declare NE the champions of free agency signing Revis.

When NE stops winning the division every season, then we can talk like this. But to do it now just looks bitter and foolish. NE owns this division until they don't. And so far, no one is stepping us. Not us, not the Jets, not the Bills. This past season NE was decimated by injuries and STILL went to the AFC Championship Game ...or did you forget?

Really? It's not bitter or foolish to recognize the national media has a hard on for the Patriots. When was the last negative thing you heard about the franchise? They have signed one guy. One. But their free agency is being compared to Denver who brought in 3 legitimate big time players. That's nothing to do with winning, that's fawning over Tom Terrific and the Hoodie.

Oh! What would the GREAT Bill Belichick be without Tom Brady?

The media doesn't bad mouth the Pats because they win. They're doing it right when so many other teams are doing it wrong. The media fawned over the Dolphins once too.
