Since he was under contract, are we owed any compensation for him? He was signed to a 3 year, 2.3 millions dollar contract. Don't the Rams owe us something?

I figure if he would've been our head coach, then we would've got something....

No we won't get compensation for him. However, someone we may get compensation for, if he wants to leave, is Baggett.

Dude must have been desperate for a HC job to take a lowball offer...He would be better off in the long run staying for another year or so and get teams seaking HIM.

We won't get compensation for Baggett either, as offensive coordinator is defined as a promotion over position coach, and therefore we can't stop him from going to St. Louis if he is offered that position.

If we get any compensation from the Rams, it will be an early second-day draft pick for Gus Frerotte, who almost certainly will be headed to St. Louis now.

Nope, that's not the rules anymore! It's only for HC.

PS

He is Assitant Head Coach for us also!

Baggett, in addition to being our WR Coach, is our Assistant Head Coach. And I'm pretty sure a Coordinator position is not considered a promotion over Assistant HC.

Why would Frerotte go there? Bulger-Martin-Fitzpatrick is a pretty decent lineup. Unless they don't resign Martin, that is. But, IMO, Martin is a better backup than Frerotte.

Martin is a free agent, did not play well last year, and has no experience in the Linehan system.

Unless Miami keeps Frerotte or somebody offers him a starting job, I think it's almost certain he'll end up with the Rams as a sort of player-coach. He can serve as backup to Bulger, teach him a couple of things about the O, and mentor Fitzpatrick. When Fitzpatrick is ready to become backup in a year or two, maybe Frerotte becomes a coach.

The scene is like straight out of a heist. Linehan's the in guy, one of the main guys. So everyone's sitting around and then suddenly Scotty brings in this silent weird old friend Gus, and everyone's like "wait, who the $#@* is that?" and Scott's like "nah man it's cool he's with me." But he's not cool. That guy always screws up the heist.
