does the NFL give out any compensation for a lost coach in draft picks like it does with lost players?

just something i thought might be worth getting the answer to.

thanks guys.

No you only get picks if you trade your coach to another NFL team.

if a team signs a head coach that is still under contract with his old team, there is compensation....tampa bay gave oakland several choices when they signed gruden...happened many years ago when miami signed shula, who was still under contract with baltimore.

But its not like Alabama can give us draft picks. Has this ever happened before when a head coach leaves while under contract to go back to college. If not could the NFL step in and award picks or do they not have the power to do somthing like this at all.

spurrier, carroll most recently...but, not sure if they did it while under contract.

we won't get squat for saban...no penalty clause in his contract. nfl doesn't interfere...nature of the beast.

but, in the long run, we are better off.

Oh my God! Shula left before his contract was up, that no good lying weasel!

its no different than a coach retiring. No compensation is given...nor is any due. We made a bad choice. Its not the League's fault we were stupid.

But Shula broke his contract. Is he not a man of his word?
