Greenwood left via FA so we should get one for him

Is there a standard chart for determining what round we get our pick?

Also Knight left in free agency, do we get one for him too?

We signed some pretty good FAs. Our record should only improve...

We're not getting any comp. picks.

Oh yeah, Forgot about that. It's based on the Free Agents brought in/lost.

To determine Compensatory picks, it is a big confusing formula. They take into account the amount of Free Agents we signed compared to the amount we lost. They also take in how each player we lost does with their new teams. I think we might get 1 pick next year, but probably nothing more then that.

Also, compensatory picks are only from rounds 3-7 and I think they usually choose which round it is by which round the player we lost was drafted in.

We gained more then we lost so I highly doubt we get anything next year either. I have a feeling we will use free agency less next year so perhaps two years from now, we'll see some comp picks.

The league says it's a multi-factor analysis, but the largest factor by far appears to be the size of the contract signed by the qualifying free agent. I believe that is the one factor the guy who projects these picks uses. He has a high success rate...

What sucks is that this was one of the few years where there were not non-compensatory picks given to the worst teams due to the large number of comp picks awarded.

I believe Kevin Carter & Vonnie Holliday do not count as a FA in the formula because they were cap casualties.

Signed QB Frerotte, LB Spragan, DB Tillman

Lost DL Robinson, S Knight, LB Greenwood

Thus, at this point, I do not think y'all will qualify for any comp picks at this time

The players who signed 1 yr deals do not usually count in the formula.

Do a search for compensation picks on the site and you will find a link to AdamJT13's work at KFFL where he projects the comp picks. Outstanding work. (I cannot access KFFL at work)

I was checking up on the Pats at one of their forums and every poster in their seems to think they are getting a compensatory pick in rounds 3-5.

They got one in round 3 for the loss of Woody this year, so they should understand what it would take to get such a pick. Who are they losing? Law?

Yeah, they're counting Andruzzi, Patten, and Law.

That's the pity about Surtain -- If it weren't for the cap issue, we could have kept him and reaped a comp 3rd for him (if we were smart about picking up few qualifying FAs next year). Of course, that would have been a while later.

I'm pretty sure that they cut Law....

I don't really know but that was just my feeling.

I figure the league has to give us at leasta 4th next year to make up for the previous year where we lost Todd Wade (big contract), but didn't really get any production back in our cheap FAs. Couple that with Sammy Knight, and Morlon Greenwood signing healthy contracts. They owe us at least a 4th.

They owe us nothing. We were dumb about who we picked up and paid the price in not getitng a comp pick for losing Wade.
