Just wondering how much longer until they release the selections or if anyone knows when they will. Does anyone have any predictions on the picks the fins will get?

We're likely getting a late fourth and a late sixth. James barely playing screwed us out of getting a third

It is almost like he followed a consistent pattern of playing a full season then missing a lot of games...

There it is...I expect a full season of play this year...

I still don't understand why it's tied to how much he played rather than how much the contract was worth. It's not the Dolphins fault he got hurt.
EDIT:. I just read that it's a combination of the two factors as well as pro bowl or all team honors. I still think contract is the most accurate gauge of his perceived value.

Because it is purportedly compensation for lost value, which isnt directly tied to the contract size.

Say he remained a Phin, but only played a few games. His value wouldn't have been that much.

I'm not saying it is equitable, or "right", but that's the theory.

Playing Devil's advocate, what if he had stayed a Fin, not gotten injured, and had an all-pro season? His value would have been even more. I understand your point Mach2, and guess I understand why they include playing time, but when signing a player, the contract is offered to compensate him regardless of playing time, so that would be the most accurate indication of the player's overall worth. The forth is better than nothing though.

By the same token, a FA that left for a smaller contract goes on to have a pro bowl year for his new team, garners a higher pick than would have been projected.

My opinion is, the whole idea of compensatory picks is silly, as well as arbitrary.

There is supposed to be some all encompassing formula, but I've yet to see it clearly defined, and I hate nebulous reasoning.

as soon as Robert Kraft and the commish have agreed on how many selections the Patriots will get according to the NFL's mysterious formula
