First off, this was one of the worst games I have seen as a Dolphin fan. The fact I actually stopped watching was amazing, because I've never done it before no matter how many points we were down. I'm not going to dissect the Gus vs. Sage thing, because I knew all along Sage wasn't ready and isn't a starting NFL QB, if he was, I'm can assuredly tell you all that Saban would have given him a chance. Here is my evaluation of what we need to do to get back on track. Remember, I love the Fins as much as anyone, but this might be what we need.

SLOWLY START TO GET RID OF OUR AGEING, ESTABLISHED DEFENSIVE "STARS". I mean look to deal JT, Zach, Madison, Schulters, etc. This is where we are going to be able to get the most "bang for our buck". I love Sammy, Zacky T, and JT to death and realize they are our "core", but I'm tired of hearing we have to keep them bc they are our heart and soul...When is the last time our "heart and soul" came up with a big play in a big meaningful game? It's time to start developing a new heart and soul. When is the last time Zach has played a full season, every game with no injuries? I mean just look into it, I'm not saying get rid of all of them at once, but if there is an offer to get younger, get draft picks, we should do it, considering the circumstances. Our defense, is slow, old, injury-prone and doesn't get the big stop when we need it. Doesn't matter if its Reggie Howard, JT, Crowder, or Seau...we have to have a unit of guys that can step in at anytime and make a play. We have NO ONE on our team that can consistently make big plays, not Chambers, not McMichael, not Ronnie (yet, bc in a year I think he will), not Zach, Sam, JT, anyone. I don't think anyone on our team should be looked at as "untouchable" in terms of trading. I think we shouldn't be afraid to look into FA to bring guys in, trading to bring guys in, and drafting young guys to come in right away. We are not there, nor are we even close. This team has digressed since game 3 of this season. We have not improved in any phase offensively, defensively, special teams, or coaching (in terms of consistency). I can't even remember the last time we won 2 games in a row. It's just tough because you try and find something to remain positive about and stick with it (O-Line, Ronnie), then just see that the next week there are so many glaring weaknesses it cancels it out.

By the way, I'm tired of hearing how much we need a QB, bc this team certainly needs more than that. I really believe that we'd be just as poor of a team if we had a decent QB, we might win 2 more games at the most, but I just can't see us being so much better because every area of our team HAS to be a concern in the offseason.

I am depressed right about now, I am upset right about now. But you know what I just realized...there is no fire in these players. About the only players we have that do care if we win or loose have showed emotions throughout the season now and in the past are Jason Taylor and Zach Thomas. Saban although he has not been what I expected I feel that he will rebound next season. I feel this guy is smart he just needs the coaching depth at the professional level to suceed. I would hate to see him get that here and go on later on to another football team and make them champs. Patience is required when dealing with a lot of players that phsycologically have been affected by the dark regime (Wannt, Spielman, Wise) in the past. We cannot blame for Saban being over-aggresive. We can't blame Linehan because Saban approves every call in the end. I do blame the defensive coordinator. This guy was picked up from a Lions organization. I would much rather have Saban promote one of his LSU defensive guys and let saban call the plays on D. This D has been as pathethic and probably worse then the Offense. All I can say now is that next year a lot of guys will not be coming back that is guaranteed. From coaching to Players..Saban is finding who will and who won't be part of this system. I'm dissapointed because of Sabans supposively Disciplinarian attitude. I have not seen that yet..in fact I've seen him too happy when we score on a play or win a game! It's almost like his confidence level is down. I don't know if anyone else can notice this but I do see it. Saban needs a moral boost he needs Huizenga to let him know "hey man we're behind you, we know it wouldn't take a year so we'll buy you some time." Half of the dolphins roster unfortanutely would be 2nd team players on a lot of other NFL teams. In the end what I am trying to say is that Saban needs to be that disciplinarian he once was mentioned as and he needs to bring his level of confidence up a notch. He needs to be smart and play the players that will matter in the future. He needs to be a a realist and I know it's hard because no TEAM, NO COACH plays for the future but it's something that must be done. The nucleaus needs to be reconstructed down here. Chambers, McMike guys who once were promising stars are now players affected by the failure injected by the former regime. These guys need a new start somewhere else and this dolphins team needs a cleansing from head to toes. Goodbye Mr. Defensive Coordinator and unfortuantely I think Saban will be sticking to Linehan next year and for many years to come because in the endi t's all a process it does us no better to hire a new Coordinator next year. LInehans system will work with the right players and the right attitude. Go dolphins!

A depressed fins fan!

Richard Smith, doesn't come up with the scheme it's Saban and (Musgrove? can't remember but the Assistant). Richard Smith only chimes in every once in awhile, so your problem with the defense should be credited to Saban and his boy. I love Saban too, and hopefully he gets this thing turned around.
