We need the best RT we can get to complete and repair our offensive line. One of these RT would give us a All Pro LT, a very good young center and a bookend RT. This will help in so many ways from the running game to the passing game. For instance, A Fasano who is a top 10 all around NFL TE will have the chance to run more routes. He only dropped one pass last season. Whoever is QB will have more time, the time to allow C Gates and C Clay to run deeper routes. Bush and Thomas will have someone to set the edge on running plays.

I know people want a WR etc now but you start with the OL so it can protect the rookie QB then after the QB is up to speed, start finding him more WRs etc.

http://walterfootball.com/draft2012OT.php

Jonathan Martin, OT, Stanford
Height: 6-5. Weight: 312.
Projected 40 Time: 5.18.
Arm: 34.
Projected Round (2012): Top-25 Pick.
4/6/12: Martin was sick at the Combine, so he didn't work out. Martin had a solid performance at his pro day. The need for tackles could push him higher in the draft than many have him ranked.

Martin had a good overall season. He was a solid blocker in defending Andrew Luck's blind side, proving the signal-caller with quality pass protection all year. There were some games that Martin allowed some pressure, but he was reliable.

In 2011, Martin was a good run blocker, and the Cardinal ran behind him all year with some huge successes on the ground. Stanford totaled 446 yards on the ground against Washington and had many other big days running the ball.

Martin sets the edge well and is a good athlete to hit blocks on the second level. He had some penalty problems earlier in the season, but cleared that up. Martin is a better run-blocking franchise left tackle prospect than many former high first-rounders, but he will need to continue to improve his pass blocking for the NFL.

Bobby Massie, OT, Ole Miss
Height: 6-6. Weight: 316.
40 Time: 5.23.
Bench: 22. Arm: 35.
Projected Round (2012): 2.
4/24/12: Massie has quietly moved up draft boards. He had a decent Combine but reportedly had an impressive pro day. Some believe he could crack the first round but should go in the top half of the second round. It wouldn't be a complete shock if a team takes him over Adams.

Massie had some quality games this season, but did not have his best performance against Alabama. He did well in run blocking in 2011. Massie is too strong to be bull rushed, and he has the athletic ability to mirror well in pass blocking.

Massie is still a little raw and could use more experience and development. There are stretches where he simply overwhelms defenders. Massie looks like he is a future starter at right tackle in the NFL.

There is also Guard Cordy Glenn , this depends on what we think about Murtha, Garner, Hicks etc. Without completing our OL, draft playmakers on offense are a semi waste of time. Plus lineman last longer. We are rebuilding here folks.

Cordy Glenn, G/OT, Georgia
Height: 6-5. Weight: 345.
40 Time: 5.15. 10-Yd Split: 1.76.
Bench: 31.
Arm: 35 3/4. Hand: 10.
Projected Round (2012): 1-2.
4/24/12: At the Combine, Glenn showed off excellent speed with a surprisingly fast 40 time for such a large man. His only real flaw is his feet, but he has the potential to improve on that in the NFL. Some teams will consider keeping him at tackle in the NFL. After a rough first day at the Senior Bowl, Glenn played very well in the remaining practices and in the actual game.

As a senior, Glenn was a starter at left tackle. In many games in 2011, he was dominant. Glenn has the power, balance and long arms to make him a well-rounded blocker. He had no problem opening holes in the ground game, and generally was a good pass protector.

BtWay, we gave up 52 sacks, 95 QB hits and a LOT of hurries last season.

All of the teams in our division went pass rush early. The Bills getting FA pass rushers Mario Williams and Mike Anderson.

And the Jets drafted pass rusher DE Quinton Coples.

The Patriots drafted two pass rushers in DE Chandler Jones and 6'2" 265 ILB Donta Hightower.

We are in a defensive line vs offensive line arms race that we are losing and without improvement to our OL we could could suffer though a season with 55 or more sacks 2012.

We need to keep up with the teams in our division.

Bucky at NFL.com has us taking:

42. Miami Dolphins: Bobby Massie, Ole Miss: With Marc Colombo officially retired, the Dolphins could use a physical right tackle to shore up offensive line.

Hopefully it's Martin or Glenn and not Massie. I'd rather have Mike Adams than Massie.

I'd be okay with going OT in the 2nd round as opposed to OLB/DE or WR. Jake Long being healthy this year will go a long way, and Pouncey should improve in his 2nd year. Either way, RT will be an upgrade regardless of who's put there imo. Still worried about guard play though.

Got to protect whoever's up front - so that's a no-brainer.

I say we'll go 2nd - RT, 3rd - WR, 3rd - DE. There ought to be a solid option 4th rd on down for a guard.

I wouldnt mind Massie. He's big and physical. He' strong as a bull too. No one will be bull rushing from that side thats for sure.

We were 30th in the NFL last season in giving up sacks, does anyone want to shoot for dead last?

Does anyone think drafting a WR is going to help here?

While we were 30th in giving up sacks with 52, we were 10th in getting them with 41.

So what seems more important? A "pass rusher" , a WR or a bookend RT?
Which one will help protect whoever is QB for us?

I don't know about you guys, but the day I see Ole Miss's OLs physically overwhelming LSU and alabama at the line of scrimmage will be the day I begin to generate the enthusiasm for their linemen our front office has shown over the years.

LOL.

I don't understand the fetish-like fixation on Ole Miss players this FO has had ever since John Avery. That team is DEAD LAST in the SEC West and is always pushed around by the top teams. What do ANY of their "prospects" actually bring to the table?

i'm not at all in favor of a WR at 42 for the record... I actually prefer a peter konz pick if he checked out medically although I don't think we even looked into him much.

i much prefer pouncey at guard, and konz is a prototypical center for me.

johnathon martin I'm not sure about, I keep flipflopping on him. I really wanted osemele at RT, but I think 42 is too high, and he'll probably be gone by our 72nd pick...

Our wide receivers have a total of 4 tds between them ALL YEAR
Teams don't win a super bowl, don't make the playoffs, don't have a winning record,
when your core group of wide receivers score 4 tds all season

This team is in desperate need of a good wide receiver
The Pats Gronkowski had 4 TIMES MORE TDS THAN OUR ENTIRE WIDE RECEIVING CORE

Bess leads the group with 3 tds
Hartline has 1 td in the past 26 games
Legedu Naanee has 4 tds in 5 years
Moore had zero tds last season
Pruitt had zero tds last season
Wallace had zero tds last season
Gates had zero tds last season

I'm assuming that you do know that we traded away a WR that we forced the ball to all season. And how many TDs did he have? 5-6?

Having a rookie RT starter will allow Fasano to catch more TDs, it will allow our QB some time to find our WRs. Our QBs were sacked 52 times and hit 95 times. At that rate we could lose a QB or two.

And we lost both our starters on the right side of our OL and we have not replaced them.

Any WR that we draft will not have a impact if our OL is still a turnstile.

Overview[/h] Martin is one of two tackle prospects in this year's class who could be called elite, and given the value of the position will be a likely first-round pick because of it. He embodied all that Stanford football was throughout his time there, as he is an aggressive, smart, technically sound prospect who will enter the league at a stage in his development where he should be able to contribute immediately.
[h=3]Analysis[/h] [h=4]Strengths[/h] Martin has prototypical skills for the position. He missed just two games in his career and is extremely tough. He carries his weight well and is one of the most technically sound prospects in the draft. He has a smooth, efficient pass set that allows him to get a solid base and work from a balanced state. He is powerful and aggressive against the run and has good footwork for his size. Martin was the anchor of a very polished offensive line and is simply an NFL-ready tackle. [h=4]Weaknesses[/h] Martin has a tendency to pop upright on contact and get slightly off balance, usually when slanting in the run game. He isn't a real powerful or violent puncher, and at times his punches will slow his feet and he can get caught off guard. He isn't a quick-twitched mover off the snap and could have some issues against the league's best speed rushers.
