If you live outside of Florida and you need to find somewhere to watch Phins games, this guide should help.

It is slightly out of date, being from 1999, so PLEASE CALL THESE ESTABLISHMENTS TO VERIFY THE INFORMATION.

Please note: I did not write this, but in my extensive, obsessive mania to find Dolphins bars in L.A. I unearthed this gem and know it can help other Phins fans desperate to find venues to watch the games.

[Apologies for the crappy formatting, but this is how I found it]

Fornat: City/State Name, Address & Comments

Alabama Birmingham Bob 2 Locations in Birmingham - It is Baumhower's an excellent place to watch a Wings Sports Dolphins game on Sunday. There are various Dolphins memoralbilia scattered throughout the restaraunt, as well as Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers and other NCAA and NFL collectables. They even have a web site you can check out at www.wingsportsgrille.com. Huntsville Bob Yes, this is the Bob Baumhower Baumhower's that used to play for the Wings Sports Dolphins. They have one big screen TV and 7 corners where there are a group of 3 TV's... (for a total of over 20 TV's) so you can watch 3 different games at once. The place is very crowded for the Sunday early games, and starts to thin out for the Sunday late games as I am sure most places do. They have an all you can eat brunch buffet for $6.99 which is pretty good. Also free popcorn. The big screen rarely gets the Dolphins, unless it is the Sunday ESPN game, or the Monday night game. However, if the Phins play a Sunday early game they are on most of the time. For some reason, the way they have the Satellites set up at the "Sports Edition" one or two Sunday early games usually doesn't get put on. But it is very rare if the dolphins are one of the teams that doesn't get put on. The only frustrating thing about the "sports edition" as is probably not uncommon among sports bars on early sunday morning.... is that there is a lot of flipping of channels and satellites the first 15 minutes of the games, as the management is trying to get on the satellites as many games as possible... so you are bound to be switching seats with people as the games get put on the TV's. Anchorage Eddies Sports 6300 old Seward Hwy. There seems Bar to be a very good Dolphins crowd at this sports bar. They have 1 big screen, which usually shows the Dolphins. There are also about 10 other TV's throughout the bar. They have an all you can eat brunch for $7.99 as well as a full menu and bar. The head cook is a Dolfan. Sedona The Coffepot Just south of Sunset Drive on 89A in West Sedona No kids, mixed drinks, beer & wine and a nice Mexican & sandwhich menu. Four TV's & one big screen...again majority rules on what to watch. New York ESPN I know this place exists, I think Sportszone it's near Times Square. ESPN has a Sports Bar/Restaurant that shows games. Sometimes their announcers are in attendence. New York The Sporting 99 Hudson Street, between Harrison (Tribeca) Club and Franklin. Lots of tvs, several bigs ones, and a really cool scoreboard with scores constantly updated. Very, very crowded. Big with the Wall Street crowd. Make reservations if you want a table. Shows all games. New York Entourage Used to be the Polo Grounds, but Sports Cafe has re-opened. At 84/85 & 3rd. Has a multi-screen subscription to NFL Ticket. There is a core Dolphins group that congregates there every week. Cover at the door is $5. Food is good but not great, and moderately priced (for NYC). This is also a hangout for Serious gamblers. New York Cannon's Pub 108th Street and Broadway. They have $5 rolling rock pitchers during the games, four tv's that show two games. The place is never packed as it is somewhat of a dive, and they don't serve food but you are allowed to bring your own as long as you are drinking. New York South Beach 33rd St and 2nd AvenueThey only Bar have about 4 regular sized tv's but they Only show the Fins. New York All Star Cafe' just north of Times Square Crowded and noisy with obnoxious music blaring instead of play-by-play. But they've got all the games on on HUGE screens in a big oval-shaped, two-story room where you can watch lots of other games during Fin timeouts. Food's not bad. New York Blondies 79th street between Broadway and (Manhattan) Amsterdam Ave ....has great wings (and other stuff), and two big screen tvs. One always shows the Jets and Giants, but the other shows either the marquee showcase game (if there is one ... such as last weeks Vikings/Falcons and Dolphins/Broncos games) or whatever the back room wants to see. There is a fairly large contingent of Dolphins fans that congregate and I have only been there once when the Fins weren't big screen at least for the end of the game. They also have enough regular size sets around to show every game on at least one set. It is packed though so you need to get there early to get a table. New York The Grand 23rd St and 3rd Ave They've got (Manhattan) Saloon about 10 TVs and always show the Dolphins for the 2 or 3 of us that show up. Syracuse Bleachers (Old Liverpool Rd., Liverpool) - - lots of cool sports memorabelia, and a full menu with booths and bar seats. Good place to watch any sports, but it gets crowded and it lost much of its personality after remodeling which included the removal of a section of stadium seats if front of one of the big-screens. Syracuse The Juke Box (Geddes St., West side): 2 big screens, and 7 TVs, NFL Ticket, so all the games are shown. The good thing is that since the Bills are always on local TV, their fans stay home. Usually a good Dolphins contingent, and never too crowded (except Mon. nights and the playoffs). Beer specials and the best Buffalo wings around (a steal at 15 cents each) . . . but take my advice - DON'T CHALLENGE THE COOK TO MAKE HIS HOTTEST WINGS. Try to get a bar seat so you can watch 5 games at the turn of your stool. Syracuse Pensabene's None. Ohio Cuyohoga Falls Damons bar and Shows Dolphins games along with 3 grille others on giant screen TVs Dayton Clancy's At the intersection of Burkhardt Tavern and Spinning It features two games at one time on large projection TVs and several other games on small TVs. Great place to Zone catch every game played. They have over 60 Televisions and great sight lines for them. I've been going there for years and LOVE it there. There is a nice collection of Dolfans who have grown steadily over the past few years. It's supposed to be one of the best places in Southeastern PA to watch football Philadelphia Cavanaughs in University City 119 South 39th Street (215) 386-4889 39th and Sansom Street There are always about 10-15 Dolfans there. We'd love to see more. The food is good, inexpensive, but the service is usually very slow. Pittsburgh Clubhouse 20th and Carson street on the South Side. Johnson City Bailey's It is really a sweet place with Sports Bar enough reasonably large TV's to watch every game; (they have Direct TV of course.) They also have four-five large screen TV's as well. Knoxville Rookies Sports North Peters Rd., West Knoxville. Bar Shows all games, on two big screens and many smaller screens, with the Fins usually having the largest contingent (10-20, unless we are on local TV, which usually shows Oilers). Has a good menu of appetizers and sandwiches, draft and bottled beer, as well as mixed drinks. Casual atmosphere. Outdoor patio in summertime. Usually one or two sorrowful Patriots fans there to tease... Oh, by the way, be ready to see alot of Orange here. Memphis The Eagle's 6102 Macon Road (at Sycamore Nest View), shows Dolphins games. Lousy service. Waitresses are no were to be seen when you want them. Takes forever to get order if you get it. Food is So-SO. Onion Rings/Hamburgers/Fries are great. The rest is not. Nashville Box Seat 2221 Bandywood Drive. Phone: (615) 383-8018 Off Hillsboro Road in the Green Hills area. Have 15 screens. But the screens are almost all big and very easy to view, and it is still two stories and roomy. The bottom floor is a restaurant, the top floor a bar with stools and the usual games like pool and darts. They still show every NFL game. There is no longer a plurality of Dolphins fans at this bar though. Back when I wrote you about Box Seat, Dolphins and Dallas fans had some minor followings in Tennessee because there were no other winning teams in the South. Obviously, that has changed in a big way with the arrival of the Titans, nee Oilers. The audience is now very mixed, both between teams and in terms of demographics (age, etc.). (The Titans fans have the most, but there are pockets for most decent teams, especially because Titans games are always on TV at home.) Nashville Jonathans located right on 21st Avenue in Hillsboro Village Address: 1803 21st Ave S. Phone: (615) 385-9301, Gets every single game, including Dolphins games. However, it is certainly not Nashville's #1 Sports Bar these days! Audio here is not as good as Box Seat, and is entirely a restaurant, where you will be seated. Jonathan's is long and thin, which makes it difficult to view your game if you do not get seated in a correct spot (its hard to get an angle where you can see many TVs), and it is even somewhat harder to hear your game, as the volume is kept fairly low, and Jonathans can get noisy. However, it is rather easy to find, and draws a good crowd. It is one block from Vanderbilt University, and thus the crowd here is heavily college students, and generally younger, as opposed to football die- hards of all ages that populate Box Seat. Nashville 2nd and Goal On 2nd Avenue. supposed to be a great place to watch games. It's in the heart of the tourist district downtown and would probably be the easiest place to get to for out of towners. Nashville Sports Cafe' On the North side of Nashville, the MetroCenter area. Address: 2292 MetroCenter Blvd Tel: (615) 256-5333 On the water which overlooks the Titans' practice facility. Nashville Sportsman's on 21st Avenue right down from Grille Jonathan's. This is absolutely positively NOT a good place to watch NFL or Dolphins games. Firstly, its totally a restaurant; much more so than the other places here, which all have at least some "bar" component to them. Secondly, they do not have enough screens to see all games. Seven screens does not always cover all games, and even then there is no guarantee you will see seven different games. Last I was there, the manager was a Packers fan, and that game was on at least 3 TVs. Thirdly: The audio is completely turned off on all TV's. Fourth: The TV's are small, very small. Unless you are the type of person who wants to go eat a meal and that is your primary purpose, and you'd like a little football in the background, then maybe its okay. Texas Abilene The Zone South 14th street. There are Bar & Grill reportedly Fins Fans who meet there every Sunday Amarillo Hummer's They have NFL Sunday ticket and Sports Cafe show all the games every week. Austin/ Damon's Damon's is a rib-house kind of Round Rock place with the focus on sports. They have 4 big screens in the main room, and 4 small ones in the bar area. It's open seating, not by team groups. It can get quite crowded and if the game you want is the second game there's often a wait. Screens are visible from all over the place and each table has its own sound box from which to select audio feed. Nice setup. Austin Legends in the Holiday Inn at the Sports Bar intersection of MoPac and 183. It's set up in seating clusters around small screens. Get there early and claim a spot to insure that you'll get your game. A lot of fun if you have your own group. Austin Marriott's 701 East 11th St They have Sports multiple dishes and big screens, Bar & Grille are pretty agreeable despite the inevitable Cowboy fan contingent, and weren't too crowded--at least for the late game. Houston Scoreboard One exit west of the intersection Sports Bar between I-10 (Katy Freeway) and I-610 (West Loop) in a strip mall on the SE corner of Silber Rd. and the Katy Freeway. Address: 7613 Katy Fwy. Phone: (713) 681-6987 This place is sort of the "Anti-SRO" as it is is low key, a bit blue-collar, almost a neighborhood bar. However, its reputation is excellent, it has quite a bit going for it, its shows all NFL games, and the sportswriters for the Houston Chronicle and other local periodicals watch their games here more than any other place. The place is medium-sized, and is almost entirely a "bar". You pick up a stool or a chair and put it wherever you want. Sure there is food available and tables around to sit at, but that is optional. The atmosphere here is so low-key that you could very easily spend an entire Sunday afternoon here and not order a single drink or hamburger, and nobody would notice. Here is what I think is the most unique aspect of Scoreboard: The big screen TVs are spaced evenly around the four walls of the bar. When you walk in, there is usually a sign up which tells you what game is being shown on which big screen TV. When you find your screen, you can opt to just pull up a chair or stool (there is plenty of room here; it never gets overcrowded, even on Sundays), or you can grab a table. The big screen showing your game will have audio which is quite easy to hear. However, interestingly surrounding each big-screen TV in a circle are several smaller TVs which have no sound. These TVs show the other NFL games without audio. So if there is a commercial, or you want to see what is happening in say, the Bills- Jets game, you need not get up from your seat to find out the game will be on a small screen surrounding the main big screen showing the Dolphins game. Houston SRO's FM 1960 @ Cutten Road - 18 miles NW of downtown. Sports bar in northwest Houston near Willowbrook Mall. Shows all games on Sundays. Bar is divided up into individual seating areas. Largest game audiences get biggest screens and largest seating areas. A real good place to watch games. Houston (Another) On Westheimer and Gessner. Address SRO's - 2517 S Gessner Rd, Houston, TX Phone: (713) 952-1999 There is now a second SRO that has opened in the last couple years, and it completely wipes the other SRO off the map, which most people now consider rather average. It is also more convenient, being 9 miles due West of Downtown near the intersection of Westheimer and Gessner (two major roads). The old SRO, which is still open but is incomparable, is 18 miles NW of downtown. The New SRO on Westheimer and Gessner used to be a movie theatre, and they converted the entire theatre into a sports bar. Needless to say, it is a massive place. It has a restaurant section, a bar section, a game room section (heck, it probably has more than one of each.. LOL) The number of TVs I is almost uncountable; dozens are viewable from every angle. They show all sporting events that is is possible to show, I do think. I noted that SRO managed to show every single preseason NFL game. All four Dolphin preseason games were shown. As you know, that is quite a feat, considering that most of those games are on local stations only, etc. It seems that there is always a professional satellite person there, as opposed to a place like Jonathan's in Nashville where the staff often keeps flipping channels till they find sporting events. The old SRO is still there, although it pales by comparison, and the company is clearly concentrating its focus on the new location It would be a feasible option though if someone lived or stayed NW of town and it was very convenient. Crowd is mixed in age, tends to be more white collar/upper middle class. Houston Time Out There are 3 Time Out Sports Bars Sports Bars in the Houston area. They have satellite hook ups so you get to see the Dolphins no matter what. Visit their website at /www.timeoutsportsbars.com Utah Salt Lake City Port-O-Call There are usually 20-25 Dolfans there watching the games. The bar is located at 78 West 400 South, SLC, UT 84101. If there are any other Dolfans in SLC, they are welcome to come and join. There is a membership fee to get into the bar as well. SLC has some screwed up liquor laws. Virginia Arlington Summers Courthouse Road. They show all the NFL games every Sunday, and there are usually 5-10 Dolfans present. Fairfax The Blue Fair Lakes Shopping Center. Seems Iguana to have replaced "Bad Habits". Harrisonburg Blue Foxx Cafe 2061 Evelyn Byrd Ave. The owner is a major 'phins fan (he even has the VA license plate that just says 'phins', and the games are always on. Newport News RJ's Seven TV's. Mostly a Steeler's Restaurant and bar, but a good showing by Sports Pub Dolfans. Lynchburg Rumors Sports None Bar Richmond The Player's Midlothian turnpike right off the Club Powhite Expressway. Usually has about about 20 Dolfans show up for games. They have umpteen Television sets, some large screen, some 27 inch and show all the NFL games. Virginia Beach George and corner of Lynnhaven Road and Connie's Lynnhaven Parkway (757) 368-3375. The owner is a Phins fan and usually shows the Phins game on the Big Screen. They have lots of other TV's and show all the NFL action. Food is great at good prices and it's usually a friendly crowd of a dozen or more Dolphin fans on any given Sunday. Vermont Essex Jct Backstage Pub 60 Pearl Street. Located in back of the A & P shopping center They have 7 TV's, $1.50 drafts, 10 cent wings, full kitchen. Washingon Bellevue Jaeger's 3720 128th Se (425) 643-4228 This Sports Pub is Jeff Jaeger's place. He played for UW, then the hated Raiders and da Bears. Small TVs but the Dolphins will be on. Federal Way (?) Spectators On Highway 99 Shows all games on Sport Grill 36 TV's ....3 big Screens Dolphins Game always on Big Screen Being on the West coast games start at 10:00 am.....so that's good for the great Breakfasts Olympia O'Blarneys Pub 4411 Martin way (360) 459 8084 Best pub in town, great food, great beer, and great people Directions: I-5 to exit 109 (Martin way) go south on Martin way located on left next to Lacey Cinema Seattle Charlie Mac's 15221 Pacific Hy S (SEA*TAC) (206) 242-9999 No cover charge. Multiple big screens for NFL Sunday Ticket. Football, food, video games. Tacoma Ram American 3001 Ruston way (253) 756-7886 Grill Very nice place suitable for the whole family. Great food and a grand view of Puget Sound, I find that helpful if the game is not going well. Directions: I-5 to 705 take Ruston way exit, located on right along the waterfront. Wisconsin Madison Babe's On Schroeder Road in Madison. There is no cover charge. They have a satellite dish and can show every NFL game. You just have to show up and ask them to put the Dolphins game on the television closest to you. Wyoming Cheyenne CB Potts There was no cover or minimum tab, and they have the capacity to show 6 games, so occasionally the worst game on at any given time gets bumped.

I hope to upgrade it to a better format soon.
