If we bring in Keyshawn, a lot of people are speculating he would be in the slot. A lot of people (myself included) would like to see what LoBo could do as a slot reciever (ala Wesley Welker) as well as a 3rd down back. Whatd you guys think will happen if we bring in Key???

I would rather have Booker in there then Keyshawn i am not a Fan of Keyshawns at all

Ok lets understand one thing guys...so we can stop this thread...the slot receiver usually is the quck agile fast receiver...like welker..and others...
Keyshawn is none of those things...if anything...ginn will move in there and keyshawn outside....
that is why the best cover corner for any defense moves inside to cover the slot receiver..in nickel and dime packages...
GUYS THIS IS NOT MADDEN...THINKING THAT B/C KEYSHAWN MIGHT BE THE THIRD RECEIVER HE WOULD BE IN THE SLOT....!!

Yader93 thank you for finally stating this fact to the forum. I have never heard of a big tall guy at the slot such as Johnson. Booker would be a great slot and 3rd down guy and he probably will be used in a variety of different sets. However just because he will play slot on some plays does not mean we wont bring in a guy to also play the slot. Chances are Ginn will even see some time in the slot this year as well. I think Johnson will be used as a outside reciever for mostly blocking and post patterns where is can use his size agianst a smaller corner. Plus Johnson is not afraid or small enough to care about going over the middle on the safties. He will place this and a leadership role in a young Miami core. I dont think there will be to many pickups at the position as many think. People seem to be forgeting the young youth we have on the team that is not in danger of being cut. You write them off for no good reason. They had horrible leadership on the offensive side of the ball and only began to play together frequently in the latter parts of last season. I think you are forgeting that and writing them off no good reason other than they dropped some balls or missed there blocks. Hate to remind you but this was happening across the board here in miami and even are pro bowl bada**on defense played quite sloppy at times last year. The players only give what the coaches require for them in the most part. Bad coaching equaled bad play.

The slot can be for a small fast WR or a Big Possesion WR. So its a valid question. One example of a big slot WR is Dallas Clark even though hes a TE he still lines up there. So this thread can continue.

On another note...a guy i would love miami to sign is Bryant Johnson from Arizona.
I think he will compliment Ginn well. But thats a different thread.

your right this isnt madden, a common cliche people use on this website to degrade another poster for a supposed ridiculous comment.

but, in 3 reciever sets, chris henry, bengals reciever, comes in as slot. i doubt ginn will stay at number 3 with m booker being gone, i suspect parcells sees in ginn what our new offensive coordinator saw in smith when he teamed him up with keyshawn.

bottom line, it doesnt matter what your size is. i garuntee, if keyshawn signs and the fins stay with that, ginn and keyshawn will be 1 and 2.

its true, its true

your dead right idk why people always think they know what they are talking about:up:

I would rather have him stay in the backfield

he is gonna be awesome, uber-Meggett

Itd be funny if Camarillo became our slot reciever... Two guys, picked up off the San Diego waiver wire, both wore #83

(Wikpedia has Welker as a 2007 pro bowl selection and NFL receptions leader - looks like they have to get thier facts striaght.. Think ill send them an email!)

Keyshawn Johnson will actually be playing the big, red zone target, possession WR. He will start as our #2 guy with Hagan and Camarillo backing him up. Ginn Jr will be our #1 WR, deep threat guy. Lorenzo Booker or whoever wins the last WR spot will back Ginn up as the deep threat.

The slot is when the 3rd WR comes in. It doesn't mean that the 3rd WR is the "slot". The 3rd WR can be either a speedy guy or a big possession guy...or the starting speedy guy like Tedd Ginn Jr can slide to the slot when the 3rd WR comes into the ballgame.

So Ginn and Johnson could be the 2 starters with a TE in there...all of a sudden, say Booker, Camarillo, or Hagan comes in and Ginn Jr moves inside...or the new 3rd guy can go straight to the slot.

They can interchange it. It doesn't have to be concrete or the same thing "every" 3rd down...nam saying?
