If the Dolphins succeed then it would not be a big surprise for Capers and Mularkey to get head coaching offers. I'm not sure I want a new coaching staff every three years or less. Linehan was lower profile then they were and he only lasted one year.

It took Miami 10 games to buy into Linehan's system.

Does anyone else feel this way?

So we should not hire the best so they can be here longer? No thanks.

I definitely feel that way. I was rooting for Jason Garrett because at least he would have been here for a little while and we could have kept the same system.

If we do get Capers I doubt he will get a HC job for a few years though because he has already been a HC twice in the league and it will take a while for people to forget that.

Mularkey though didn't to bad at Buffalo, just sub-par and could probably get another HC job next year which really worries me as we might get our franchise QB this year and they will have to learn 2 new offenses in 2 offseasons, not to mention the rest of the offense and that is fairly annoying and hard to pull off and have execution early in the season.

Good luck. When ever you have a franchise that has some success, (like NE and like we hope to have) everyone wants a piece of the mojo. Look at the assistants in the playoffs: Most of the teams that have been eleminated have already been cannibalized, with rumors about the two still standing. Its the way things are.

No matter who is in the positions, if the team is successful, the coaches will be hired away. So whether it is Garrett with no experience, or Mularkey with some, if the Dolphins are successful (especially the O) they will be gone.

I'm not as worried about Mularkey or Capers leaving like Linehan. Mularkey resigned as coach before Buffalo even had a chance to make a decision on him. Speculation was that Mularkey was feeling the pressure of the spotlight and he didn't want his family to live through that pressure. I think he is relieved to be behind the scenes, and I expect him to be happy with the X's and O's for awhile without worrying about being the top dog and having the media hound him every day.

As for Capers, he has now been dismissed from two franchises. I don't think a head coach offer will come his way for a long time.

I'm not worry about it either.Like others said,Capers is not gonna get an offer every single year and after the year Buffalo had I don't think he's gonna get an offer either after one year with us.If we do so good that they both leave then that means we had a great year which is good too.

Ozzy rules!!

Capers is the perfect example of the "Good Coordinator/BAD Head Coach" scenario. Just because someone is (in)competent in one arena does not necessarily mean they will be in another.

Clearly, a GREAT HC knows how to maximize his team's potential and always knows what buttons to push in order to get peak performance from his players. To me, a great HC must be a great communicator first and foremost in order to get his people to "buy" what he's selling.

It goes without saying that SABAN has such a skill set and is arguably one of the most well rounded coaches you will EVER find.

Yep, good point.

I wouldn't be too concerned about that this time for 2 reasons. 1 Capers has already been fired twice and is no spring chicken in terms of age. 2 in terms of the offense, if
Saban gets a young QB he will have an offensive assistant to take over and carry on
with Mularkey's system if he leaves, the same way Pittsburgh did with Whisenhunt after Mularkey left them. He didn't do it with Linehan because quite frankly I don't think he was really all that impressed with Linehan.

I agree on both counts. Mularkey may look to be a head coach someday, but even if Miami has a stellar offensive output next season, I don't see him leaving quite yet. Especially after moving his family just a year earlier. And Capers may have had enough of the HC thing and realized his strength is in being a stellar defensive coordinator.

I love it. While all the glory and hoopla is on the Steelers and Seahawks (and rightfully so), we are quietly strengthening our team and franchise. God, I love this team!!!!

It's the way the NFL is, we have no choice and believe me Saban doesn't care. He will add players coaches and whatever he thinks will help this team succeed!! All we can do is get used to it and not take it too hard when someone leaves. I think this time it worked out in our favor, but I don't think it will every time.

i want the best possible coaches we can get...so they can rub off on our other coaches

The NFL is a copycat league and will cannabalize the successful teams coaching staffs. That unfortunately is the way things are. But Saban has close to 25 coaches on his staff. The most in the NFL by my last count. He recognizes that coaches are going to move on because we are and will be successful. He is grooming coaches and replacing coaches at the same time like interchangeable parts. I'm not worried about coaching changes under Saban. He has the right strategy in a lot of areas. He reminds me alot of a young Don Shula when he came here from the Colts.
