I have been watching the secondary play for these 2 preseason games and from what I seen am not impressed not evening a little. It's maining from Gibril Wilson side. If you watch the game like I have you will see that huge gain of yards are made toward his side especially against the panthers. Maybe he is still adjusting to the defense and hopefully he works it out by the time the season starts but right now I have this feeling of concern. What you guys think. Oh lets see lex hilliard against the 1st team defense so that we can see what he really can do but until then plz stop the trade talks about Ricky(I think and from what I see from the preseason games he is going to be really good this year). but man has Lex Hilliard really came on lately.

So tell me what you guys think and I made this thread cause it seems no one is concerned about this like I am. Oh this is my first thread what you guys thinks.

I agree. I haven't been impressed with Wilson at all. I have seen him blowing coverages and missing tackles all over the place. I hope he turns it around because we need him to play well if we are going to be an elite team.

I would say that is 1 of 2 area of concerns. Wilson or our safty issue and special teams. IMO special teams will be corrected by the beginning of the season but we might ride WIlson to long because of the investment. Last year Crockett cost us some games and the secondary did not come together until we inserted Hill into the lineup. For some reason even though Hill is not suppose to be that talented the rest of the secondary gelled with him in the line up. If Wilson fails then we have a couple of basically rookies to rely on. My suspecisions is that we could see Culver or Clemons back there before the end of the year.

I actually dont think he has played that bad..
Just because he makes the tackle on a big gain or is around the catch doesnt mean that is his guy making the catch.

That was Crocker

Hill isn't physically talented. What he was good at is being solid positionally. He put himself in the right place most of the time and had good reads.

Crocker was dancing around not knowing where to be like a chicken with it's head cut off and it made the players around him look bad. Renaldo Hill wasn't like that.

I watched the Carolina game today and there were few points in the game where Wilson's guy caught the ball for a fairly decent game. However, one poor game isn't enough to start calling the guy a bust. He was solid last season so hopefully he'll get it going.

Carolina used their tight ends a lot because Steve Smith and Muhsin Muhammad their #1 and #2 receivers didn't play.

Am not saying he is a bust it's to early for that and I will judge his play during the season but what am saying is that I hope it doesnt become a consisent problem during the regular season cause we all know that those little gain of yards can lead to a touchdown but even worse can cause us to lose the game(remember are special teams play last year)

I agree.. the middle part of the feild has been an easy target in the preseason. Could partly be because we are playing a lot of man (LB vs TE) and other times when the LB blitz's we have a TE who might not get jammed at the line against a Safety 1 on 1.

I think we will see a better indication on thursday night. If we run our normal defense with a gameplan and still give up yards in the middle.. then I will be concerned.

give him some time to sync up with his teammates.....he can definately hold his own, but given a few more games, him and YBell will be SCARY!!!

I have to agree with the OP. And honestly not suprised by as it was know that schemtically it's a difftent posisition for him. Him and YB are very similiar and not complmentary In my opinion. Hope it works somehow though...
