Now that we have been active in the past week of this offseaon, I still have some concerns that I want to bring up (in no particular order).

1) Saftey - What's the story with Schulters? Are we really pursuing Hope? Are we looking to the draft to get someone to start opposite Schulters? IMO, we need Schulters. Hope would be nice to have also.

2) QB - Yes, it looks like all our answers are solved except for one. Will Culpepper be ready for the start of the season? Most likely not. Right now on our roster we have Culpepper, Berlin, and Lemon. We will most likely need someone to play while Culpepper takes his time rehabing. So who's that man? McCown, Gus, Maddox? IMO, I would love to have Gus back and serve as our starter while Culpepper is out and as a servicable backup. However the outlook on him returning doesn't look so great. I would still also like to draft a QB.

3) K - Looks like Olindo is furious that he was asked to take a paycut, and looks like he has no intention of doing so. I would rather have him than Vanderjagt (spelling?). Do we see Miami and Olindo meeting in the middle of the road, and bring him back in?

4) CB - Andre Goodman is a nice pickup, however he can't be expected to start opposite Daniels (if Daniels is still a CB come next season). Are we depending on the draft to give us our other starter, or are we looking at the FA left available, or both?

5) LB - Hodge is a nice pickup (talent wise), execept he brings some baggage which I think will not be a problem. Simply because of the attitude and personnel (Saban) we have in Miami. Spragan produced at the other OLB spot, but are we expecting Spragan or Hodge to start at that position come next season? Are we looking to land Arrington or Peterson? Are we looking at the draft to fortify that other OLB position? IMO, whether it's FA or draft, we need another LB that can start at that OLB position, or if it's a rookie; work him into the rotation with Hodge/Spragan till he can start.

6) OL - With most of the centers that are considered upgrades to McKinney signed already, what direction are we looking at? Resign McKinney or the draft? Shelton should produce, but we still need another T. Are we still considering Ashworth, or is the draft our target for a T? IMO, I would love the addition of Ashworth, and look to the draft to pickup a center (Mangold is solid).

7) WR - While most people think we could use one more WR, I agree. However, I don't agree with some of the threads to bring in TO, when that could be at the expense of upgrading our other positions (like picking up Peterson or Arrington). Givens or Bryant would of been great, but their gone. Who else among FA is left that is worth consideration to start at the #2 or 3 spot? Or do we look at the draft to get another quality WR?

Basically, we all know there's still some holes that need to be patched up. I thought this would be a good idea to bring (what I think) some of the most important concerns left together in this thread to get some feeback from everyone. Feel free to post what you think we should do or what you would like to see when it comes to these positions.

#1 Problem is CB, we couldn't get off the field last year on 3rd down and we are worse this year w/ out Sam Madison

#2 Problem is DT, Traylor good but old, Zgonina ok but old, Vickerson good against scrubs, Wright promising but unreliable....Get Sam Adams in here, he is a monster

After that we need another speed receiver, an offensive guard ( move hadnot to center ) and a OLB that can blitz the QB ( Lavar and Peterson too pricey )..

If we address that we are a force in the AFC ....

CB is a real problem in my opinion, even if we draft one CB are rarely great their first year ( neither madison or surtain were )...

Safety isn't a problem in my opinion..we will be able to find a couple on the cheap...Tebucky or Schulters or some other decent safety...

CB + DT are our #1 concerns...

Good point. I think we could use someone else at DT, and Adams would fit great in here. If we had to bring him in at the expense of another, let it be Zgonina. Holliday/Traylor/Adams would make for a great rotation, especially when Traylor and Adams are in at the same time.

On defense if you can't stop the other team from running up the middle you are dead...

Sam Adams is 32 but he has consistently plugged the middle( ravens + bills). He absolutely abused Hadnot last year. Sign him up and draft one next year in the draft.

CB is a tough one...All the good ones are off the market...Law and Woodson want too much money...Andre Goodman is not that goood, let's not kid ourselves...If he was good his agent did a horrible job getting him a contract.
He is probably no better than Kiwaukee Thomas or Eddie Jackson..

That will be our achilles heel next year...Let's get Sam Adams and atleast keep teams from running up the middle on us...Him and Traylor would be nice...dump Zgonina...

I would also like to see us get a WR..but it is doubtful we will be able to get a good one at this point...If Chambers gets hurt there will be no one for Culpepper to throw too...

i just hope we can sign a FEWWW players today to fill our holes. tired of visits, show me the players in aqua!

just like the other poster said cb is our number one priority, then I would have to say we need to get another DT to compliment the old ones (traylor, zgonina) although we have young ones in wright and vickerson but I still feel that we need some good experience. So I have a feeling that we might sign someone in free agency like sam adams. The cb however will most likely be adressed in the draft. We still have will poole who should be a good candidate to start opposite Daniels.

Regarding our safety issues Lance and Bell should hold their own. Also rumor has it that we are looking at Hope from steelers.

In offense we just picked up Shelton who would is an immediate upgrade than the departed mcdougle and macintosh. with that said I think we will get another OL in the draft possibly in the 3rd.

So all in all I feel that we are in better shape than last year. With Crowder, Daniels, and Wright having 1 year of experience they would have better understanding with our defense.

Look at the OLine! Right now the starters are Shelton, James, Smith, Hadnot, and Carey. Depth is Alabi and Berger. behind them.......??????? Orrin Thompson in NFLE and CJ Brooks. We only have 9 bodies on the roster.

We need at least one if not two more veteran Olinemen.

1)Shulter should be resigned IMHO.Hope fully poole bounces back and bell comes on.Love to have hope but he wants big money.draft is very deep at cb and i wouldnt be surprised to see Saban go that way.
2)maddox would be a cheap gus type and mularky has coached him(but only if hes cheap.I wouldnt be surprised to see that happen because i think gus will go to St louis to reunite with linehan as opposed to us.Brock and Lemon will compete for third string.
3)I am not sure about him even being asked to take a paycut..He is worth the money and i do not like vander hooser as a replacement ... it might force us to get a kickoff specialist.I think if we are thinking of get rid of Mare, Saban might take one twoard the end off the draft, 3 7th rounders right?
4)goodman will take the nickle spot or at least compete for it and a spot on ST.Draft is deep with cbs.Not much out there freeagent wise so look for us to use a pick on one.
5)I hate to say the draft looks like the best way to go but again this is a deep draft for LB's...although arrington and Peterson are very interesting I think that there is gonna be a slow down on these guys signing.Teams are gonna tighten the money belts and mcginnest is another option .. again price tag is the concern with most of those guys. The hodge pickup is good for ST also.
6)7) These two posistions we be dependant on how much of a restructure we can do with JT and Zach..Carter already did a restructure to save us over a mill and i think JT and zach will try to help.. I hate to say it but i think TO could be LETHAL with peper in here. But if not then we better hope that we find a steal in the draft in the later rounds because there is no one i can think of going after on the FA market.Quincy morgan ,Jabbar gaffney, ricky Proehl,Ike hillard,etc..love to get mangold for center in the draft but doubtfull that happens .. hadnot may play center..really not to sure on this one .
