Now that we have been active in the past week of this offseaon, I still have some concerns that I want to bring up (in no particular order).
1) Saftey - What's the story with Schulters? Are we really pursuing Hope? Are we looking to the draft to get someone to start opposite Schulters? IMO, we need Schulters. Hope would be nice to have also.
2) QB - Yes, it looks like all our answers are solved except for one. Will Culpepper be ready for the start of the season? Most likely not. Right now on our roster we have Culpepper, Berlin, and Lemon. We will most likely need someone to play while Culpepper takes his time rehabing. So who's that man? McCown, Gus, Maddox? IMO, I would love to have Gus back and serve as our starter while Culpepper is out and as a servicable backup. However the outlook on him returning doesn't look so great. I would still also like to draft a QB.
3) K - Looks like Olindo is furious that he was asked to take a paycut, and looks like he has no intention of doing so. I would rather have him than Vanderjagt (spelling?). Do we see Miami and Olindo meeting in the middle of the road, and bring him back in?
4) CB - Andre Goodman is a nice pickup, however he can't be expected to start opposite Daniels (if Daniels is still a CB come next season). Are we depending on the draft to give us our other starter, or are we looking at the FA left available, or both?
5) LB - Hodge is a nice pickup (talent wise), execept he brings some baggage which I think will not be a problem. Simply because of the attitude and personnel (Saban) we have in Miami. Spragan produced at the other OLB spot, but are we expecting Spragan or Hodge to start at that position come next season? Are we looking to land Arrington or Peterson? Are we looking at the draft to fortify that other OLB position? IMO, whether it's FA or draft, we need another LB that can start at that OLB position, or if it's a rookie; work him into the rotation with Hodge/Spragan till he can start.
6) OL - With most of the centers that are considered upgrades to McKinney signed already, what direction are we looking at? Resign McKinney or the draft? Shelton should produce, but we still need another T. Are we still considering Ashworth, or is the draft our target for a T? IMO, I would love the addition of Ashworth, and look to the draft to pickup a center (Mangold is solid).
7) WR - While most people think we could use one more WR, I agree. However, I don't agree with some of the threads to bring in TO, when that could be at the expense of upgrading our other positions (like picking up Peterson or Arrington). Givens or Bryant would of been great, but their gone. Who else among FA is left that is worth consideration to start at the #2 or 3 spot? Or do we look at the draft to get another quality WR?
Basically, we all know there's still some holes that need to be patched up. I thought this would be a good idea to bring (what I think) some of the most important concerns left together in this thread to get some feeback from everyone. Feel free to post what you think we should do or what you would like to see when it comes to these positions.
