I have heard that we are thinking of drafting Ahmad Brooks with a supplemental pick. However, think about this. In the harrington trade, we gave Detroit a 5th or 6th round pick, pending on the amount of playing time Harrington gets next season. Therefore, we would not be able to use a supplemental pick in either of those rounds. So, either we wait and see if he slips to the 7th with no takers, or we give up a 4th round pick, which I think is too high for a developmental player with character issues. Unless no other team is interested before the 7th round, I figure we probably won't get Brooks.

I would try to pick up a 2007 draft pick by trading a player. If we get a 5th or 6th, then we could use it and get Brooks. But I am not willing to give up anymore than a 5th, and I even think that is a stretch

not true. when they announced the trade they said there was special language in the trade that would allow them to use the pick in the supplemental draft. i do not know how things would work out in the trade if they do however.

Actually we can still use that pick in both rounds if we needed to and the Lions won't get the pick until 2008. I don't quite understand why but it has been discussed alot on here.

O, well I just assumed that they would be off limits. In that case, in which we can move the pick back to 2008, it would actually be beneficial to draft Ahmad Brooks. I would rather draft Brooks and give up a pick in two years, then give up the pick this year and don't get Brooks.

Because it was a smart move on Saban's part to make it work that way.

And Saban did the impossible, make Millen look like a bigger 'tard than he already is.
