I know it is a little late but, better late then never!

I am rooting for Argentina to win. VAMOS CHES CARAJOS!!!

How do they decide the countries that play in the Confed Cup? Pardon my asking, but I'm kind of a novice to international soccer. I know about World Cup qualifying, and have a fairly good grasp of the Premier League (Go Arsenal!), and that's about it.

All the Winners or the Major Tournaments go. 8 Teams. 2 Groups of 4. Top 2 from each group go to the knockout stage. Now, the teams are decided as follows...

1. The Winner of the World Cup (Brazil)
2. The Winner of the Euro Cup (Greece)
3. The Winner of the Copa America--South America (Brazil, but since they are already qualified they give it to the 2nd place team of the tourney which was Argentina)
4. The Winner of the Gold Cup (Mexico)
5. The Winner of the Asian Tournament....Don't know the Name of the Cup. (Japan)
6. The Winner of the African Tournament...Don't know the Name of the Cup. (Tunisia)
7. The Winner of the Oceania Tournament...Don't know the Name of the Cup. (Australia)
8. The Host of the Country in which the Tournament is being held. (Germany)

So pretty much its a clash of the Champions, but most teams bring their B squads because it is not as important as the World Cup as the tournament is much shorter. Good Soccer gets played though. Argentina won 4-2 against Australia today. Riquelme scored again and Figeroa got a Hat-Trick, and Germany beat Tunisia 3-0 scoring all 3 goals in the last 15-20 mins, it all started with a Michael Ballack Penalty Kick in the 72'.

germany in the semi finals, but meaningless game against argentina still to come, but they are qualified for the semis too, but still go GERMANY :woot:

I expect Argentina and Germany will both play to win but won't kill themselves doing it. Hopefully Pekerman will play Tevez because hez has been limited in his play time.

Argentina won 4-2 over Australia.

Goals by Riquelme and a Hat-Trick by Figueroa.

I remember at the Copa America when Figueroa started playing well, that they said he could be a very good player for Argentina and could be the next Batistuta, because of his scoring talent and his ability to header the ball really well ala Bati-Gol!

GOOOOOL!!! MEXICO!!!!!!!

Final Mexico 1 - Brazil 0

Mexico beat the Juggernaut of soccer!

Mexico now leads their conference!

Vamos TRI-COLOR!

Mexico are now unbeaten in 19 matches since Brazil beat them 4-0 in the Copa America last July and were worth their victory in a superb match played on a balmy night in northern Germany.

Watch Brazil choke and not qualify for the next round...

Anyway, saw the game today and both teams played strong but WOW...Jared Borgetti has got to be thanking the Heavens he scored the game winning goal because had he not, he would be the SCAPEGOAT for the Mexican Fanbase. He missed a PK twice! Yes he scored it on the first attempt, but as soon as the second one came up he started to stagger as he ran toward the ball and you know from there his head had been messed with.

First time I ever saw that. One PK being taken 3 times! Unbelievable.

Mexico will play Greece and will probably rest a couple starters in Wednesday's game. Brazil will play Japan and the winner will qualify for the next round.

yeah, that was crazy...you got to hand it to the Brazilian GK....the guy did his best, but I honestly beleive Mexico should have won at least 3-1, they missed 2 great oppertunities...Brazil had a good chance to score.

Argentina 1 Germany 1

Decent game. Argentina isn't attacking as much as it can. They are relaxing a little because they know they have already qualified for the next round. Germany also isn't attacking all the way as they have decided to let Ballack rest.

BTW, what a Free Kick goal by Riquelme!!!
