"Suck for Luck" confuses me - almost as much as some of the decisions the Miami Dolphins are making on game day. But, game day isn't the discussion - it's this desire to see the team be horrible, for a chance at getting a quarterback not guaranteed to be available when Miami is on the draft clock.
And, I'm not talking about the typical, "If you're a fan, how can you root for your team to lose," argument. Personally, I will never root for the Dolphins to lose. I can't do it. I want them to win ever single week. Do I know that they are a bad team, and do I want to see them get a good draft pick? Sure. But, I'm not able to root for a loss. Can't do it. But, I understand if that's where you are in support of this team.
But, I'm still confused. I'm confused by the reactions on the site. Here we are, with what seems like the majority screaming how they want to see Miami lose every game, then get angry when Miami loses. I don't understand the hate of the team, when they are doing what you want them to do.

Everyone seems to think head coach Tony Sparano is the best man to "Suck for Luck," then we call for his firing every single day. If he's great for the cause everyone seems to want, why the repeated and incessant demand to see him gone?
Now, we've reached the NFL trade deadline, and the demand that the Dolphins trade all their players is all over. We want the Dolphins to gut the team. Because, if the Dolphins are able to land Luck, having absolutely no one around him will make the team so much better.
I understand we are all frustrated and angry. But I don't understand how the "Suck for Luck" campaign people are angry when we do suck. Maybe it's just me, but you can't have it both ways, right? If you suck, you suck. If you want the team to suck, and they do suck, you're happy and getting what you want, right?
I don't want to sound like I am telling anyone how to root for the Dolphins. I don't want to sound like I am telling one side of the argument or the other they are right or wrong. I'm trying to understand why we have "Suck for Luck" posts, immediately followed, many times by the same author, complaining that the team sucks. Can you explain it?

This was posted on another site by Mosul_DolFan and is probably how most of us unbelievers in SFL feel.
 
I'm not on the bandwagon for Suck for Luck but I can see the point to those that are. The Dolphins are 0-5 and it has nothing to do with what the fans say or do. You can want them to go 0-16, you can root for them to score 10 points the rest of the season, you can wish for injuries to make them start Rosenfels, etc.

None of it matters. The team is going to do what it's going to do.
 
That's a great post!

Don't look for "sense" in the S4L crowd. They will continue to ***** about losses, and when Miami wins a game, they will be enjoying it just as much as the rest of us.

That sounds about right. I did not write the original post but it ask some good questions. So i'm susposed to be happy with the teams performance last night because we lost a winable game ?
All the missed oppurtunities were a good thing and Tony should be applauded ?
Today there are tons for post on what we did wrong and how to fix it. Why ?
If the point is to REALLY suck I thing we are there so give it a break and talk football.

I was a fan long before Marino and three straight superbowl appearances plus an undefeated season bought a lot of currency with me. It will take more than a 0 and 5 start to use it up.

I knew you could not resist. I gave you a layup and your probably right. Doesn't matter as I hope we get Luck just cann't root for it.
Question: Did you really cheer Revis and the pick 6 ?

this site after a loss this year is not even close to as bad as its been in the past.

in any other year after a loss like we had vs cleveland for example, and especially the jets last night, this site would have been filled with peoples thoughts on the game, venting, fire this guy, cut this guy, etc.

are their a few threads like that now? yes, but very few, nothing even in comparison to what has been in the past. you can just tell by the atmosphere on this site that most people are content with losing this year to get luck, and honestly cant blame most people considering we are going nowhere at 0-5, and we can finally get a shot at drafting marinos replacement.

but people really are not complaining when we lose, more like people are just so numb to it, most people are laughing. its sad times for this franchise, but we will right the ship.

I fully understand you not rooting against the fins, as you are a fin fan, and your rooting has no impact on the games results. however, sitting here at 0-5, we are 100% done from playoffs. not 99.9999 %, 100%.

so therefore, ill take the 1-15 and 1st overall pick, rather than 5-11 and 6th pick.

yeah...i saw you did that in that thread...and the reality is things won't get better the rest of the season...they'll get worse...this is just the beginning my friend...

but i guess you and so many others will have to witness it for yourselves...i know how this plays out already

Me too. But i'll let you guys do the rooting for it. If the team starts playing great (BIG if) and wins the last few games against the Pats and Jets but still finishes 5 - 11 with the 6th pick I can live with that also.
 
You really want wins for your ego or what?

Come April no one cares about yoru previous year...Get the best draft pick slot period.
