In fact, if you know how front offices generally think and/or how to properly assess a draft, this year’s choices tells us quite a few things about Chris Grier and Adam Gase’s thinking, and the biggest takeaway will both surprise you and boost your confidence in the team.

1-Your front office is no longer stupid. Rejoice in that fact because it’s the first significant step towards winning a Super Bowl.

2-No Name” defense back in Miami

3-If this draft has made one thing clear, even to the dullest of minds, it’s that the Dolphins aren’t nearly as concerned about the run as fans are.-

:::In my best Jim Mora voice:::

Super Bowl...did he say Super Bowl?

Looks good on paper...now let's see it against an actual team.

Hopefully, not to their detriment...

No name defense? I knew the no-name defense. They are no no-name defense… Yet anyway

If they're lucky maybe they can be… Killer wannabes!

I think the one take I get from the free agent period and the draft is we are building a team, and no longer searching quick fixes. The only players we made rich are Dolphins to keep the continuity, and give the rest of the team something to shoot for, and confident if they buy in to the team they will be rewarded. In the draft we went after quality human beings who can play, and want to play. They aren't willing to risk a lockeroom cancer no matter how talented he is.

I don't understand what you are talking about with the run. We got a guard who is mainly a run blocker, and got a lb and two DT that stop the run.

Drum brakes? Really!

"Pump the brakes" was what I was going for.

Having a new DC and a satisfactory draft and then comparing it to one of the better defenses in NFL history is not only far-fetched, it's on the verge of disgraceful.

Yep I'd be happy if we make it into the low teens this year. That would be a good upgrade from last year.

Its just Gase and Grier getting the praise now but if the picks turn out to suck it'll be: TANNENBAUM'D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. why are people acting like this draft proves we've turned a corner? We have two years of information to go on for this FO and these are the exact same crew responsible for the Carroo disaster. Maybe they didn't make any dumb trades simply because they didn't have the capital (thanks to the Carroo disaster)? And who knows, maybe it was dumb turning down those offers to trade down in the first, how can you make judgement if you don't know what was offered?

P.P.S. I've never seen such hype for a 5th round pick, and its a guard no less, from a draft that may be the weakest for o-linemen ever. I know zilch about the player (and refuse to watch highlight clips of 5th round guards, if they even exist), but given the circumstances if you're expecting this dude to pick up where Tunsil left off you're likely going to be disappointed.

Carroo disaster? It's been one year. Drum brakes. Lots of images of drum brakes.

Also, if you "refuse to watch highlight clips of 5th round guards" what makes you think it'll be a bust? What makes you think you are able to comment on the guy's skill set? Just glad our scouts watch film on 5th round guards, RBs, and safeties.

"Gase is keenly aware that veterans in the 2nd year of his system will now play without the hesitation of having to think through their assignments, and that will, in turn, not only make for a more efficient and effective offense capable of scoring early and often, but allow him to add more complex facets of his scheme to the Dolphins’ attack, including, quite possibly, the hurry up offense."

Never thought about it like this.

"Gase believes the Dolphins will be running the ball late in games against worn down defenses in order to eat up the clock, while opposing QBs will be forced to throw in the hope of coming from behind. As a result, he expects Burke to use Andre Branch, William Hayes and Jordan Phillips early in games when their opponents’ play calling is more evenly balanced, and Charles Harris, Davon Godchaux and Vincent Taylor when teams are forced to throw."

Interesting. Allows the OGs to rest, that's if we have a lead, so the pups can rush the QB in the 2nd half.

I'm as disappointed as anyone right now that Caroo is in the doghouse, but its too early to call it a disaster. He's a receiver going into his second season who didn't contribute with the biggest FA receiver this year, maybe the game's top possession receiver, and a top 16 pick ahead of him. Yeah he didn't do much and was surpassed by a UDFA because he wasn't as ready to play in a pinch, but he has scarcely seen the field yet in his career. He actually looked pretty solid in preseason last year. Clearly the team wanted to to send messages to him last year. They could afford to with the guys ahead of him who were probably the best 1 through three of any in the last few games last year. Let's see if he learns and develops. I still like the talent.

The Phins are setting themselves up to be little more than a developmental team to improve Carroo before he bolts for a dollar more elsewhere....

There are 5 guards in the Hall of Fame who were drafted in the 5th round or lower.

Larry Little is one of them.

He was undrafted.

For someone who refuses to watch film of a such lowly pick... I would say you just aren't dedicated enough.
