Hey guys I'm a little confused about the whole Ginn situation. Did we draft a Punt Returner or a Wide Receiver. I watched Ohio State alot last year and did see some great plays by Ginn, but nothing that truly amazed me at Wideout. The only real WOW factor I saw was when he played Special Teams. I hope and pray that we didn't spend a TOP 10 pick on a punt returner because that is was it seems like we did. Ive seen that he has great speed but has terrible positioning skills when it comes to catching misplaced throws. I will say this I did like Brady Quinn but have somewhat faith in this new coaching staff but am a little worried on the choice they made. I'm not very convinced that Ginn was a top 10 pick caliber players. Could some of you guys tell me a little more about Ginn and if he is really worth that high of a pick because I really don't know any other top WR in the draft. Other than Calvin Johnson (GT), Dwayne Jarret (USC), and Jason Meachem(Tenn.). Thanks a lot guys, take it easy! GO PHINS!

He's only been playing WR for 2-3 years.

Hey, I think we would have been better off to use the first round pick for someone like Okoye, Willis, Carriker, Revis, etc etc. Not to mention that we still have Hagan and Vick, last years players, who we haven't even given much of a chance. I liked what I saw from Hagan and would use him more this year. Plus, didn't we bring in Hakim to return kicks? Couldn't Vick return kicks? This wasn't a good pick IMO.

Everyone says Ginn is going to have trouble off the line...But the truth is it would be risky for a corner to come up and bump him due to the fact if they miss they will never catch him...he is too fast...He also shouldnt have too much trouble breaking the bump because he is so quick and shifty...Ginn will develope into a very good reciever and the return game should speak for itself...

Ginn was the 2nd best WR on Ohio State. He did play the position though.
Gonzo wouldn't have been the same receiver without ginn commanding double teams every play leaving him 1 on 1 most plays

The exact same argument was made about Santana Moss and we all know how THAT one worked out.

All I know is that Cameron and Mueller have history on their side. Every pick they've either made or coached has gone on to success. In 2001, the first pick was Michael Vick. The next QB was Drew Brees and that draft saw the likes of Mike McMahon, A.J. Feeley, Marques Tuiasosopo etc... Only one QB (and I'm including Vick) turned out to be a GREAT player and that was the guy coached by Cameron. Then Cameron coached Phillip Rivers. Then he orchestrated the best offense in the NFL. Any questions?

Let's examine the hit/miss ratio of Randy Mueller, paying VERY close attention to which of his picks are NO LONGER IN THE NFL AS AN ACTIVE PLAYER.

Let's start in New Orleans (ignoring great Seattle years) and let's break down his first draft which was tough because Ditka had left him without a first or third round pick in the Ricky Williams debacle.

In 2001, Mueller drafted Darren Howard (DE) Active - ABSOLUTE HIT - Franchise Player - Signed to the Eagles as a free agent, Terrelle Smith (FB) Active - HIT - Blocked for a 1000 yd rusher for 6 seasons - released by the browns and signed by Arizona, Tutan Reyes (G) Active - HIT Signed with Panthers and then Bills as a starter, Chad Morton (KR) Active - HIT - Explosive return man currently with the Giants. Marc Bulger (QB) Active - ABSOLUTE HIT - Starting QB for the RAMS. Michael Hawthorne (FS) Not Active - MISS -Out of Football, Sherrod Gideon (WR) Not Active - MISS -Out of Football, Kevin Houser (LS) Active - ABSOLUTE HIT - Current LS for Saints and a 7 year vet at the position.

So, in his first draft for New Orleans Mueller only missed on 2 guys out of 8. And the 2 misses came in the 6th and 7th round, respectively. How many of Jimmy Johnson's Dolphin's picks made it in the NFL that same year?

Let's see...

Todd Wade (T) is active (Redskins) Ben Kelly (CB) is out of the NFL, Deon Dyer (FB) is out of the NFL, Arturo Freeman (FS) is out of the NFL, Ernest Grant (DT) is out of the NFL, Jeff Harris (CB) is out of the NFL.

Jimmy hit on 1 player out of 6.

In 2002 Mueller drafted Donte' Stallworth (WR) Active - ABSOLUTE HIT- Currently with NE along with Randy Moss....Scary. LeCharles Bentley (C) Active - ABSOLUTE HIT - Active player with the Browns. James Allen (OLB) Active - ABSOLUTE HIT - Still a starter for New Orleans 6 years later. Keyuo Craver (CB) Not Active - Miss - Out of football. Mel Mitchell (FS) Active - Hit - Great special teamer with the Patriots. J.T. O'Sullivan (QB) Not Active - Miss - Out of the NFL. John Gilmore (TE) Active - HIT - Reliable player for the BEARS. Derrius Monroe (DE) Not Active - Miss - Out of the NFL.

Out of 8 draft picks, only 3 players were busts. And the Dolphins?

Seth McKinney (C) Active - HIT - I have to say hit cuz he got signed by the lame Browns, but this guy was AWFUL as our Center and I DESPISED him. Randy McMichael (TE) Active - HIT - Underachiever reunited with Linehan in St. Louis, but still a solid player. Omare Lowe (CB) Active - HIT - Special teamer with the Falcons. Sam Simmons (WR) Not Active - MISS - Out of the NFL. Leonard Henry (RB) Not Active - MISS - Out of the NFL.

I COULD go on but I think I've made my point!

When we look back, Ted Ginn Jr., John Beck and Samson Satele will be easily recognizable names based on their stellar play. Because of free agency they may not ALWAYS be Dolphins, but I think Mueller has proven that when he picks you in the first 3 rounds of the draft, you ARE a player!

Relax, Dolfans! We just got a WHOLE lot better!

GO PHINS!!!

I am not sure ginn was worth the nine but I think he could be a pretty good receiver.

ginn is absoulutely the most explosive player to come out of the draft in a very long time,,,,,i just got done watchin his highlights for the 100th time,,,,,I swear i was laughing outloud by myself,,,,this kid is going to electrify this city and team,,he is ridiculously talented,,,pure unadulterated speed baby,,i'am talkin mike vick speed.....

He does have good hands, caught 60 passes last year,,,scholled big time college programs,,i'am tellin like they were standing still.....i am one happy dolphin fan, kids gonna be a star

Wrong...he had 59 catches in 13 games which comes out to 4.5 catches a game...THE YEAR BEFORE THAT HE HAD 51 CATCHES AND THE YEAR BEFORE 25 Catches

He had a total of 135 catches in 37 games which is 3.6 catches per
not very impressive

You want to bet on which one will have the better year as a wide receiver?
I'll bet all my phin $$$$

Santana Moss had 3.5 catches per game over his career. That just goes to show that you can't always judge a player by his numbers.

In order to understand why Ginn is better than his numbers, you have to understand that Ohio State, which had great skill players at every spot, actually built it's entire offense around Ted Ginn Jr. Everything they did was because he was on the field. He made things that much easier because of the attention he drew.

It was like Shaq in the Finals last year. Dallas doubled and tripled him every play, and he only averaged 13 a game, but look what Wade was able to do because of that attention drawn...
