I think starting Culpepper or Beck will hurt our certain Super Bowl run in 2007. Can you feel the sarcasm? I'm not so sure we should just throw Culpepper away as if he was yesterday's garbage without seeing what he can do in camp and in preseason games. I'm not a HUGE fan of this Trent Green crap. I'm realistic enough to realize the 2007 Dolphins are most likely not a Super Bowl contender with or without Trent Green. My thinking is that even if Green is brought in the staff would be foolish not to at least give Daunte a chance to compete. I also feel we should not give into the game of chicken that is going on and wait for old man Green to be released before signing him. If we were a legitimate Super Bowl contender in 2007 with a solid QB I'd say DO IT, but that is not the case. If Green comes in I'd like to see him compete with Daunte and Beck for the starting job. I'd rather see Daunte or Beck start week 1 then give up anything for Green.

I'm not sure if Daunte Culpepper is worth keeping, but feel Miami is in a position to at least give him a chance.

The staff would have been foolish to also pass on Brady Quinn and they did. Cameron will bring in Trent and make him the starter. He will cut Culpepper. Daunte is just not his style of QB. John Beck will be groomed to be his starter sometime this season.

Ricky Williams will not be back either. Mueller and Ricky do not like each other. Booker will back up Brown.

I really don't think CP has ever been an "elite" QB, but, he did play at a fairly high level for a while. I think it's a big mistake to keep him on the roster but wouldn't be upset if they let him compete for the job. Unfortunately, if the other QB's are so bad as to not be able to take the job from him, then Cam and Co. did not do a good job this offseason and we'll be in the same boat we were a year ago.

Was never sold on Quinn, wanted Joe Thomas or Levi Brown as our number 1. If all of this happens, I don't agree with the new staff/FO. I would hope I'm wrong because unlike many posters I'd rather see the team win then be correct about what I post on Finheaven. Getting rid of Ricky makes less sense to me then not giving C-pep a chance.

The only way Culpepper is cut is if Trent Green LEGITIMATELY beats him out.

I would hope so, but it sounds like if Green is brought in it will be because he's going to be the starter.

I ask, what is the harm in giving C-pep a chance to prove whether or not he can play at a high level again??

Cam said not long after his hiring that the starting quarterback position will be earned, not given. I hope he sticks to this.

I also remember Cameron saying some good stuff about Daunte during the presser as well. To tell the truth, I'd much rather see Lemon as the starter than Green.

i think if healthy, C-Pep will be the starter this year, the only reason they wanna bring Trent Green in is for insurance and a veteran starter should C-Pep not be ready for the season. Beck needs someone 2 learn from, he cant start yet, and Lemon Head, he is nothing special, right where he belongs on the bench

He was never an elite quarterback? In 2004 when he threw for 39 touchdowns, he was probably the second best quarterback in the league behind Peyton Manning.

Look at his receivers.. Just lob it up to Moss and he'll catch it.. Cameron likes QB's who can making timing and anticipation throws.. Culpepper is not good at that.. Therefore is a bad fit in this offense.. Miami's offense will be predicated by such throws .. Secondly, Cameron likes intelligent QB's who make fast decisions.. And Culpepper is definitely not good at that either.. Culpepper is simply a bad fit in the "coryell " style offense.. He'd be better in the offense Oakland has been running .. C-Pep won't start for Miami again.. The writing is on the wall.. He's done here..

Let Culpepper go, he doesn't fit our style now. I wish him the best though, and unlike half our fans, i don't wish he sucks when he goes to the next team, i know it would make us feel better if he was done, but his a good guy and gave us all he could. He worked his *** off but it just didn't work.

Once again with the "toss it and Moss catches it" argument... :shakeno:

Worked wonders for the Raiders... :rolleyes2

Too bad Moss only had 13 TDs in 2004. As well as only about 740 or so yards receiving that year... Leaving 26 TDs and about 3900 yards passing that didn't go to Randy...

Seriously... I agree that Culpepper isn't the best QB for Cam's system, but find a different argument because that one just doesn't fly...

You're not the only one.

Truthfully, unless Green comes at a low ended contract to serve as Daunte/Beck's backup, I'd rather see Miami pass on him.
