Was anyone else confused by the offensive gameplan yesterday? Specifically, I'm talking about the lack of some of the plays that appeared to be successful in the preseason. I'm also talking about the failure to use certain players in roles in which they excelled in the preseason.

Boomer Grigsby had a pass catching role in the preseason, but it didn't seem like we thought about using him at all. Could have been an unexpected weapon near the goal line.

Ted Ginn was finally given the chance to run shallow crosses and drags in the preseason. That allowed him to get the ball in his hands and have a little space to run. Where was that philosophy in this game?

Ricky and Ronnie are great pass catching backs. Where was the simple RB wheel route that usually picks up 4-6 easy yards? We didn't use them in routes until late in the 4th quarter.

I just see a lot of potential in the offense that seemed to have been left out of the gameplan for this week.

I saw a grand total of 5 plays, but, I have to say, it was shockingly bad. Play action with 13 seconds left and no timeouts? Seriously? That's terrible.

We ran the wheel route a couple of times, in fact Ricky got a big gain at the end of the game with it...but I do agree that we didn't have any drag routes or crossing routes for Ginn and the one reverse that we ran was sniffed out because of Bess poor blocking. We would have had a sure TD had we hit the flea flicker.

I agree, what was with all of the play fakes on plays where if we had run it would have been idiotic. Not just once, this happened a lot. Maybe someone who knows more about football than I do could tell me because I didn't get that.
