i did not get to watch the game do to my brother doing work on the computer...

so all i got was a halftime show and the score to simply raise every 10 mins or so in that left hand corner to see that the offense had zero points for the longest time and the falcons score raising slowing...

after my brother got off the computer..i checked stats...now about the time were you can understand my confusion...when i looked and seen that..ricky carried the ball 7 times for 39 yrds and ronnie 10 times for 43 yards...which means that they average over 4.5 yards a carry...

which bring up the question why did they only run 17 times...i mean with the praise the run blocking gets and the two headed monster..why arent we running 30 times a game...we dont have a good receiver..they are all average at best and chad is as well..but are rbs are good and ronnie,if given a chance could be great....chad should not be throwing 29 times a game...

so can anyone tell me why we did not run the ball more..was there something that was going on that i couldnt see...cause of not being able to watch the game...?

I wrote a thread earlier discussing this very point. Why pretend to be something we're not. Our best offensive weapons are ronnie and Rick.. compliment them with Cobbs and Polite, we should be running the ball all day long.

that would b great if we would give R & R the ball more...comin out in the first half wit the wildcat only down 7 or 10 points , showed as if our offense hit the panic button....we should have jus kept runnin

Yeah I noticed this. Once we focus on these 4 guys....the passing game opens up tremendously. Id say work Ricky and ROnnie....and then Bess...Camarillo..and then Ginn...

This should be the formula..Ricky comes off the ball more confident and has a huge burst compared to ronnie who seems to slide and picks his spots..

Ricky and Ronnie looked great but the problem was that the offense was playing so sloppy that we really never could get into a rhythm. We had penalties, negative yardage plays, and turnovers, which combined with us playing from behind for most of the game really prevented us from being able to use our running game like we wanted to. We also didn't keep Ryan and the Falcons offense off the field enough, and despite claims that the defense played well, the score really could have been much higher against us because the Falcons missed some easy field goals, an extra point, and some wide open scoring plays.

One of the positives that I took from the game was that R&R both looked very good and the o-line was actually opening holes in the run game, despite being beaten constantly in the passing game.

Turnovers and Penalties forced us to throw the ball and the O line couldn't handle the constant pressure......if we didn't turn the ball over we probably could have ran the ball more

once we get behind we start running plays in desperation. when we run plays in desperation, pennington plays bad. when pennington plays bad...we lose. Pennington plays his best football when he is not pressured to win the game for us. If we can get our offense playing well right off the bat then our run game will flourish and we will be able to run the ball a lot more than we did last game.

I think Ricky is more explosive than ronnie..I dunno why

I'm a huge Ricky fan and a Ronnie critic...I have to disagree with your statement though. At this time Ronnie has far more skills than Ricky but what Ricky has and Ronnie lacks is desire and the ability to play take control of things. I'm not saying Ricky is "top notch" but he uses his skills far better than Ronnie is is continuing his legacy of underachieving and proving he can not be counted on to shoulder the team.

I'm sorry, but I completely disagree with your statement. Ricky has always had better vision, more ability to cutback, more explosion to the hole, and better football speed (despite Ronnie's fast combine time). These things are skills that Ricky has that Ronnie has just a little bit less of. But I would not say at all that Ronnie lacks desire- the guy is about the hardest running back to tackle in the NFL and that to me screams desire. He has always impressed me with his ability to finish runs and not go down easily, and not take the cheap way out like running backs who run out of bounds constantly to avoid taking more hits.

To me, Ronnie has always lacked certain skills that would make him an explosive, top notch runner. That doesn't mean he isn't a good runner, and part of the reason why he is a good runner is his desire.

Ricky and Ronnie are similar backs .. yet at the same time they're different. ronnie will bowl you over moer than ricky will.. I think ricky is slightly more elusive in traffic.

Hard to be unhappy about either of them.

They're both amazing and they didn't throw the ball that often, they got down early and had to. They had a lot of long second and third downs. They should've had more throws to the flats but it's so hard to get the defense down field so flats throws when the o-line played so poorly.
The game of football is decided more by lineman than anything else IMO. It can all come back to them. It's not just 1 QB or 1 RB.. It's a big unit but if ONE of them fails the entire offense will fall apart. If a WR doesn't run a perfect route he won't get the ball.. When Jake Long was getting plowed over you could see our QB sacked within 1 second. If they can open holes it doesn't matter who is running the football they will get a good YPC. Now with R'n'R running the ball, you HAVE to get holes. People are saying our run blocking was better than pass..but that wouldn't be hard to do.
The offensive line needs to get you time on passing plays plain and simple. Your QB will be rushed, make rash decisions, and throw on the run in these situations.. And for plays in the flats to work you need to get the defense down field and give some space to your most explosive playmakers in the open field, your RB's! If you get the ball to Ricky and Ronnie in the open field they will dominate and it will open up deeper passes and sideline to sideline our receivers will have space to roam.

couldn't of said it better myself. Ricky does have more of the "God Given" ability than Ronnie. It's no cut on Ronnie... it's just the truth.
