They start by calling us dumb and go on to talk about how the Randy McMichael taunting penalty lost us the game.
They start by calling us dumb and go on to talk about how the Randy McMichael taunting penalty lost us the game.
Dumb was Alonzo Ephraim sprinting into a scrum and flattening a Bills player long after a kickoff whistle blew. Dumb was Rex Hadnot having two more illegal procedure penalties this game. Dumb was nine penalties in the first quarter. Dumb was 12 penalties by halftime. Dumb was a franchise-record 15th penalty when tackle Stockard McDougle committed Miami's fifth illegal procedure penalty of the game.
But here's the thing: Ephraim aside, most of the other Dolphins penalties were misdemeanor dumb. They were overanxious or overaggressive dumb. Collectively, they were the kind of dumb we came to expect from Dave Wannstedt teams, and after a fourth-straight game of double-digit penalties, they should have been corrected under Saban.
McMichael's penalty hurt most, though.
