I'm not sure about something. I have been hearing that if ricky comes back he will have to serve a 4 game suspension for the third violation. I then saw that he has a year suspension coming. Can anyone clear this up for me?

If he returns now, he will be suspended for an entire year because his retirement counted as a 4th failed test. However, if he sits out an entire year after his retirement, that 4th failed test status will be reduced to the 3rd failed test status. He retired on July 28th, 2004, so it will be reduced on July 28th, 2005. The level three is a 4 game suspension which he will have to serve. Ricky won't return until July 28th.

AHH, I also was confused about that. Can the NFL penalize him for some of the things he has said?????????

Dude thanks, completly clears everything up. :cooldude:

It is my understanding that Ricky also has a still pending appeal of the 4 game suspension that the league would hear should he come back. The speculation I have heard is that depending on how cooperative Ricky is about several things (staying on meds, renouncing marijuana, telling the league what he was doing to cheat tests), that four game suspension could go away.

Possible, but remember that the League offered Ricky a deal to serve the 4 game suspension while he was retired last season. Ricky failed to respond to the offer by its deadline so the 4 game suspension still stands. Ricky's prior unwillingness to acknowledge the leagues offer may lessen the likelyhood that the league will bend over backwards for him.

I think it's really a loophole in the system -- the whole returning after the 28th thing. I wouldn't be surprised if the league did impose some kind of regulations in his suspension due to that factor.

I doubt it though.

I think he'll come back but he'll need to start getting in to shape about now. I'm not a huge fan of this though -- this is Ricky. We have Ronnie. Enough said? Lets hope so.

Ricky has to request reinstatment and the other posts are correct about the one year and four game suspensions for now.

What was left out was he will still be in the drug program and subjected to constant testing not more than 10 times a month. One misstep like being late and missing a test will subject him to a one year bandishment.

Though we did learn that the drug rules can sometimes be negotiated if the NFL agrees. Ricky did have a deal where he could have returned sooner but he thumbed his nose at it.

you are absolutely correct. He can't announce that he is coming back till the end of july. (just playing the nfl rulez game) That is why there is so much confusion. according to a secret deal he has already made, he is already enrolled in the nfl drug program.

me neither

i thought i was the only one.. .now we gotta make up cap room, gotta get him a spot wth a deep young RB core... if he plays it takes away from browns development... if he plays half *** cause his heart isn't into it it hurts the entire team... i just would rather go into the season knowing ricky is done and hes never playing again and we can go on with our football team...
