Here are some of the keys to this week's game:
1) Start Fast - Buffalo isn't the easiest place to play for opposing teams and the Dolphins have struggled mightily over the last couple of years. It will be imperative to limit the Bills’ production and points in the first quarter, and the Dolphins offense must take an early lead. This team plays and executes differently when sitting on the lead, finding a nice balance between the run and pass. Early production is paramount not only to create separation, but also it will stifle the crowd noise for Tannehill and company.
2) Get To Taylor - Quarterback Tyrod Taylor put on a clinic the last time he faced this Dolphins defense, and his movement and accuracy were on full display. Three touchdowns and 277 yards later, Taylor carved around and through the Miami defense that will be without edge rusher Cam Wake this time around. Miami must control the rushing attack of LeSean McCoy and Karlos Williams, especially on first down, so that they can get after Taylor on second and third downs. Taylor has been nursing a sore knee over the last couple of weeks, so it will be interesting to find out how healthy he is and if his mobility is limited outside of the pocket.
3) Third Down Conversions - This needs to improve if the Dolphins have any chance of winning this Sunday. Three of twenty over the last two weeks should lead to losses and the offense must find a way to stay on the field. The focus should not only be on third down, but the lack of success on first and second down. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill must find early rhythm and the offensive line needs to create a push for the rushing attack. Balance and execution up front should lead to a productive start and hopefully better chances at converting on third down opportunities.
Please click on the link for the other two. I think we have to stay consistent with using time off the clock along with scoring points. The running game will be huge to give our defense a break.
