Congrats Fins On A Great Draft

Ronnie Brown is going to be a stud! Now go and draft tons of Olineman and have Hudson pick em..just make sure you guys play like crap when you come into San Diego:) Heck, Ive got a couple of bets from your members on this board for that game.

We have a thread at the SOSD forum regarding Mel Kiper. Why does this guy have a job? Besides the worst hairdo EVER, he hasnt gotten ONE draft correct.

Here are some of his gems..

- He had LT as the 25th best available player in the 2001 draft.
-
"Ryan Leaf will be a better QB than Peyton Manning in the NFL."
-
"Ladainian Tomlinson will be nothing more than a 3rd down back in the NFL."
-
He also pegged Andre Ware as a future hall of famer.
"Running back Travis Henry was drafted a little high (2nd round), but he runs hard."

"Defensive tackle Gerard Warren was one of the best players in the draft. "

"I question Jacksonville's selection of defensive tackle Marcus Stroud because guard Steve Hutchinson and tackle Kenyatta Walker were still on the board."

"Cornerback Willie Middlebrooks made sense in the first round for Denver."

"Seattle did the best of any team, led by the selection of receiver Koren Robinson."

" I like the Freddie Mitchell pick in the first round."

" Receiver Rod Gardner was an outstanding pick and is a big-time talent."

"Tackle Kenyatta Walker fell into Tampa Bay's lap after Jacksonville took Marcus Stroud. Walker has a chance to be their left tackle of the future, something they need. "

"Defensive tackle Damione Lewis, because he is a penetrator with quickness, is a nice pick"

Some of those are not that bad.

Stroud is a good DT but Hutchinson is also a good Gaurd. so it just depends on what line you want to help.

Rod Gardner is a good WR. look at what he did before Spurriur put him in his doghouse and did not throw him the ball. Gibbs for some reason does not like him either.

Travis Henry is a good RB but yes buffalo reached for him in the 2nd. he would have still been there in the 3rd maybe even the 4th.

What is wrong with Koren Robinson?

I'm not the biggest fan of Kiper's draft grade, but if you look at his past analysis, he's usually pretty on.

I posted something similar in a thread before pointing out his missteps, but they weren't the easiest to find.

I'm not saying he's right. In fact, I think he's wrong about us. But generally, this guy is a draft guru.

Apart from he sucks, has a bit of an attitude problem, served a 4 game suspension for mary jane and cannot catch a friggin thing he is Brilliant!

Yes he has an attitude, and yes he likes to rock the ganja. but he is still a good WR. I didn't go back at look at the other WRs that came out that year. but he is still pretty good.

i hope we start cataloguing all the same scouting reports of finheaven posters. that should be an even bigger laugh.

It's not our sole occupation though. We just do it for fun. More is expected out of someone that is payed for it.

100% dead on.

Thanks LT.

As I said in the other thread, I'm a little jealous of the Vincent Jackson pick. I would have LOVED to seen that guy in aqua and orange.

I saw him play in person this season, and was not overly impressed. The local paper(San Luis Obispo Telegram-Tribune) was giving scary reports about how dominating he could be. Well Cal Poly pretty much shut him down. Jackson dropped balls and at times looked lost on the field. Also at times a linebacker(Jordan Beck, who was the #90 pick in the draft), blanketed him.
San Diego already has a player, who also wore #1 on the college level, that I have seen look much better on the same field. Kassem Osgood(who was at Cal Poly for 2 years and 2 games a 3rd year) looked a lot better on that field than Mr Jackson did.

Well, Kiper said Mike Williams is a future Hall of Famer...so let's see if Williams gets the Kiper jinx put on him.

As always, I hate the guy..but to give us a C- in the draft when our biggest glare of need was pass rush, and we addressed it. Also, we needed a kick returner, we addressed it. We needed a "BURNER" to stretch the field, we addressed it..Jackson is faster in the shuttle cone drills then Roscoe, Braylon, Clayton...we needed depth at O-line we selected 3 back to back to back at the later rounds. Wesley Britt (6'8, 314 lbs) was a Playboy All-American until he suffered an injury...SO WHY THE C-??? HE SUCKS!
I'm not a Britt fan as a starting pro prospect. Demarcus Ware dominated him early in the Senior Bowl week. He has very short arms, 32", for a guy 6'8". This will hurt him trying to pass block at the pro level. Probably better suited for the right side in the NFL.
Still though, looking at the rest of your picks and when you made them, I thought your draft was a definite A. Also, as with the Dolphins, you've made some excellent UDFA signings.
