While this game did matter in record, the outcome didn't matter as much as we think. Good thing about this game is it was week 1 and not 16. We were playing the defending champs on their turf in a primetime game and responded pretty well for the most part. Anyone who thought this game would be a cakewalk without Big Ben does not know football. Big Ben is a game manager who throws under 20 times a game most of the time. Removing him from the offense is not like removing Marino in his day. The Steelers are a run first team that plays great D, as we witnessed tonight. That has been their bread and butter and they stick to it, it doesn't matter who their QB is as long as he doesn't make mistakes. We played well for most of the game and had a chance to take it over late. We lack the killer instinct displayed by the Steelers tonight, and that will be something that will have to come with time if we are to be Champs. Good news is that we weren't supposed to win this game, despite what many said. Pitt is clearly a better team right now, not necessarilly with personnel but in chemistry and playing as a team. If we won, great! If not, it would be more about how we played and responded to challenges and I would have to say we did a good job of that through most of the game. Shake it off and lets move to next week. We have Buffalo, Tennessee, and Houston coming up before the pats. Those games should provide ample time to mold and gel as a team. Our real season finally starts now, lets learn from this game and move on.
