Conspiracy Theory

I know one reason the jets are one of the least flaged team each year is that Herm Edwards hires officials to be at his practices and to actually treat it like a game. Nick Saban was looking into doing this too and I hope he does it. You play like you practice.

I've coached highschool kids at a couple of schools. *Everyone* thinks the officials are against them. The private school kids think it is because they are rich and the officials are not. The public school kids think it is because they are poor and the officials are not.

The fact is that officiating is, and always will be, inexact. Furthermore, blaming officiating is loser talk. It only gets you into trouble mentally. I think the movie The Replacements called it "quicksand". Officiating complaints is a quick way to get stuck in quick sand.

I always tell kids "bad calls happen, shut up, nut up, and be a man."

I'm not looking past the Broncos, no way. But, with the Jets on the horizon I recalled a conversation I had with my friend last year that I'd like to share with you now. My friend happens to be an official at the high school and college level. I was "venting" to him one day that it seemed like the Jets got more "officiating" calls than any team I had ever seen going back to the Vinny Testaverde non-touchdown, the Chambers touchdown that was ruled a non-catch and on and on. I said I thought the officials gave the Jets enough close calls to mean 2 extra wins a year. I fully expected my friend to say something like "that's expected from a Dolphins fan." Instead, he agreed saying that other officials he had talked with mentioned the same thing, but also included the Giants as another benefactor of the NFL officials. He said the NFL would love nothing more than the Jets and Giants having success and that he wouldn't doubt that the NFL would give those teams "the benefit of the doubt" (his words) on close calls. That seemed strange to me that others, especially officials, would notice the same thing.

Now I'm not usually a person who would mention officiating, but the bottom line is I think it's gone way down the last few years and I'm surprised that the NFL isn't doing more to improve the quality of officiating. It means so much to the players and to the fans.
I think the FBI has a special department for this kind of stuff; you may want to contact them. I believe the agent's name is Special Agent Mulder.

If you were to go with this line of thought then also wouldn't the nfl have done anything to get a team back in la with the what 2nd largest market in the country?

I would not be surprised at all if the Saints end up moving to LA, especially since I believe the Superdome is unuseable.

yeah yeah yeah...and to add to the conspiracy theory, isn't it interesting that since 9-11 the "Patriots" just so happen to be the team winning superbowls and the Boston Red Sox (Boston Tea Party) win a world series. Nothing like adding a little Patriotism to the country in time of need by fixing sports games.

You can find "conspiracy" anywhere if you look hard enough. :rofl3:

Go Dolphins!!!

P.S. No, I don't believe in the conspiracy, although I'm sure there are believers out there. :sidelol:
LOL...leave it to the fin fan from Tokyo...:rofl3:

NY has a big market so maybe that is why they would give them the calls,

So having NY win maybe an extra game on bad officiating will help who how? The only conspiracy is your birth. You are not who You think you are. I think I have said too much. Please dont ask any questions.

Oh yeah...I forgot...Any surprise as to who's been in front in the NFC? The "Eagles," as in the American Eagle. More fuel for the "believers" out there.

Why would the league want the NY teams to do well? They're making money and relatively successful as is... if there was going to be a conspirancy wouldn't it make sense for them to help the teams from struggling markets....ahh, I'm spending too much time on this bologna.

Think of the economics. Teams in the biggest markets have the best capacity for getting the highest ratings. It's unlikely that someone living in a small town New York will care as much about a Detroit/Chargers SuperBowl since they live nowhere around there. However, with the Jets or Giants, the ratings will be even bigger. That means they can sell commercials at a higher price. That means everyone makes more money.

Simple economics....Why do you think they left us in the AFC East. It wasn't about where the team really lives. We stayed there because the NFL made more money since the matchup is one that provides a cash cow.

I've been saying that for years! The Taliban tries to take us down and suddenly the "Patriots" Win the big dance after being 3-13 the year before? A little fishy. Not a lot but a little.

My conspiracy question relates to teams being able to pick up the other teams headset conversations. Is there any documentation of this ever happening? There is no way you can tell me that some coach somewhere hasn't tried to get some techno-geek to figure out if he can figure out how to listen in on the headset conversation on the other sideline.

I've always wondered about that. It would be an easy excersize to eavesdrop.

And when you think about it in not just NFL terms but also in College football? With those coaches who have their jobs on the line if they don't win. WITH, Computer science departments so handy? No F-ing way it never happened.
