I don't think that there is any doubt that the constant change in coaches, offense and defense, as well as change on the O-Line, and most notably the QB position have been our problem over the last couple of years. There is no question that is why it takes us so long to get out of the gate at the beginning of the year.

My worry is that this offseason is going to bring even more turnover, with the possibility of Saban going to Alabama still lurking out there, the uncertainty at QB, O Line, WR, age on the D Line, and 30 free agents that need resigning. It might be another long year ago, which is a shame considering how high the expectations were coming in to the season.

Thats an excuse. Other teams lose players, coaches, coordinators, even head coaches and they seem to do OK.
Ask the people in New Orleans if a new head coach and new QB is holding them back. Or maybe the people in Baltimore would rather have their old QB instead of their new one. Maybe the Jets should have kept Herm Edwards for the sake of continuity.

We are what we are....a sub .500 football team that needs more change---not less. At least when it comes to the players anyway, and probably some of the coaches as well. The last thing we need to do is to keep all the same guys that couldnt win 8 games this season.

Good post/thread, hopefully Saban stays, Mularky goes, the OL picks up one max two power guys that can help immediately, Daunte comes back with a vengence, COULD be a good year for us, then again, maybe not.

Well if continuity is yor concern I can assure you no other team will make Mularkey a better offer

all in due respect i dont think it is all on mularkey ..... the off line was terrible the first half of the season , culpepper played the worst of his life injured , our receivers had 50 or more drops , no ricky 1.2 punch ....hey ...what other weapons are left for him to do something right ??????? ..... guys!!! ..analyze the game more ..please .

What sucks the most about this whole situation with the team is that we went from on the verge of being a competitive team to a team with question marks all over in one off season. All the personell descisions that were made last year have been mostly bad to average descisions. Not even counting the Brees/Culpepper debate you still point out at least two or 3 other descisions that have messed our season up. The defense is now another year older and the offense is in shambles. IMO i don't think that Saban should be fired or he should leave but i do think that they need to not give him so much say in personell matters. I also think Mularkey needs to be either demoted to a tight ends coach or fired.

The biggest impact on our season was the lose of Linehan. The second biggest impact on our season was CPep not being healthy and having to rely on Scarrington as our starting QB. I don't think Mike Martz and the rams of the 90s could have done much with Scarrington.

Then again Marino couldnt have done much with our offense either. Problem was noone stepped up other than Ronnie Brown on occasion. The oline, receivers, QBs and offensive coordinator all blew chunks all season long

That is what kills me so much about Chambers. Once we stopped focusing on Chambers and started throwing Booker and Welker's way we went on a 5 game win streak. Then defenses started realizing they needed to roll coverages Booker and Welkers way, Chambers starts seeing a ton of man coverage and consistently drops the ball literally both in his inability to catch and his inability to draw attention away from Booker and Welker. Then it gets worse Booker is hurt can't play and we have absolutely no pass offense from our WR's whatsoever to speak of. I mean the writing is on the wall.

Chambers is the #1 problem with this offense followed closely by Mularkey and then followed by our revolving door at the LT spot. QB is far from the biggest problem right now and continuing to try and find a QB that can make this offense explosive will continue to have the same results.

Huh?

I think me and you and some others on this site see the same thing. I dont know what the number 1 problem is because every week it seems one of them steps up to claim that prize, even Harrington had a couple of weeks where he really bit the pooch. I dont think QB is our number one concern until we have a better oline and receivers that can actually get seperation and receive and a coordinator that calls plays that utilize our strengths rather than play to our weaknesses. I think all three of our QBs might be alright if they had a line they could trust, receivers who could ctach and a gameplan that made sense

Can anyone name me three other teams that have had our HC/OC turnover rate? (Specialy OC) withing the last 5 years?

Good thread basis.

This, I think, is the biggest failing of Saban, though, it's certainly not his fault totally.

Yep, the only reason I point out Chambers as the biggest problem is he is the constant in all this QB suckage, Coordinator suckage and O-Line suckage. Chambers has been here for 6 years through different coordinators, different Qb's, different head coaches, different line, and so on and so on...When you troubleshoot a problem you change one thing at a time, we've changed everything else and have not found a solution to the problem. It seems obvious to me what the next step is.

Chris Chambers may be the most screwed with player in this league. U feel for a guy who hasn't had a constant at OC since he has been here. He has always put up good numbers tho, seemingly w/ a different QB every other year. I mean get this guy a stud . . . . he has had Fiedler, Feeley, Lucas, Gus, Harrington, Daunte (the injured version), Cleo, Sage . . . I mean when u look at that list . . . it seems pretty obvious why we haven't made the playoffs in so long.
