In Spain, an employee can buy out their contract so they can move on to another company or the employer can do the same. It's part of the working contract. In sports, the buy-out is usually high to keep rivals from paying the buy-out to sign the player.
I think, if it was allowed, the cap hit would be the buy out price spread over the remaining years of the old contract.
