I was curious to know if anyone here knew the extent of copyright coverage in regards to the posting of scores/stats by sports web sites. Is everything on a site covered by copyright laws?

As far as I know, stats/scores are public knowledge. It can be found almost anywhere. Articles belong to a specific author or website, thus is why it can't be fully published and must be given a link....

If anyone knows anything more or different, please let me know...

When you post the scores/stats to the phins games on this site do you have someone physically enter them or is it retrieved directly from another sports site? I was thinking of just using a get to take the stats from espn's site and reprint them.

Someone manually enters the scores and stats in because each stat has it's own field. I know there is a way to "grab" information, but never thought there was a way to get information, seperate it, and then enter each little number or something into a database. Let me know if that's possible

Just depends what programming languages you are familiar with. Its relatively simple using perl, very simple with java servlets. I'm sure this php stuff you use has the standard http get and post commands built in, but I've never messed with it.
