Jenkins joins Bears: Linebacker Corey Jenkins, waived by the Dolphins on Tuesday and claimed by Chicago, expects a bigger role with his new team.

"They want me to play linebacker, not just special teams, so I'm excited," Jenkins said. "I would have liked to have stayed here but I understand the business. There's no hard feelings."

Jenkins, a second-year player, appeared in all 16 games during his rookie season, primarily on special teams.

"It was really tough," Wannstedt said. "He did a good job for us, but we just didn't have a choice. With Pat being slowed up a little bit, we had to make sure that we were secure at the corner spot and we had to bring Jimmy Wyrick back."

Defensive end Jason Taylor is on the cover of this month's Player magazine for a feature on the best-dressed players in the NFL! :D

I hate to lose Corey. He was a Game**** and I was hoping he could contribute in a couple of years at linebacker. I wish him the best and hope he goes on to have a successful career with the Bears.

Bad decision by the Dolphins. There had to be some one else on the team to cut.

A good guy, but not a huge loss IMO... just goes to show the depth of the LB core this year. With Pope, Bua, and Moore all impressing... it was going to be a long shot for him to see the field anyway.

:fire: Bad Move ! ! !

Corey was a strong young player that contributed last season, he should have been kept ! There are several others that could have been let go. It's a shame that cutting Wanny wouldn't count as a roster move...:roflmao:

this is a big loss because of his special teams play AND because I think Seau might be gone next year and I think Zach has maybe 3 years left in him. We lost a great backup. We have a lot of depth at LB but in 2 years we wont. I knew someone would pick him up, damnit.

Well it seems Bua may have taken his spot on the depth chart. The only arguement was who was better on special teams i think Brendon beat him out on that. I hated to see him go, but Miami had way too many Lb's.

the main reason he was cut was because he was 28. Bua, Moore, Pope, and Ayanbedajo(who I think we should of cut instead) are all younger than him.

As much as I liked Corey, there was really no way he'd have a future with the Phins unless it was ST. With the Bears, he'd get to play alot more at LB and might even compete for a starting job. Here he'd just be a career back-up

My thoughts exactly. It is a shame to lose him, but we had too many LB's on the roster. If Konrad was healthy we probably would have cut one of the THREE FB's on the roster, but ... oh well.

Name one.

Honestly, I like the guy too. But he was the 8th LB and 28 years old. Nobody carries 8 linebackers (4-3 teams).

my problem with the cut is, its not like Wyrick is gonna play D, if Surtain isnt at full strength, id think the depth chart would be somethin like:

Surtain
Madison
Howard
Poole
Freeman
Bell

I really hope they dont plan on playin Wyrick in Dime situations... as far as Special Teams, unless we NEED a speedy guy for whatever reason, i wouldve preferred to have Jenkins out there hittin people.

Thats just my perspective, as limited as it is...

Eddie Moore. He hasn't done crap for this team and didn't even stand out in training camp. Corey was much better at LB than Eddie.

I liked Jenkins but Moore has more potential. Moore was a second rounder last year who was out all of last season, we aren't going to cut him without even giving him a chance!
