The Miami Dolphins are in the market for a cornerback and Patrick Robinson, who played for the New Orleans Saints, is set to come play for the Dolphins. While the timing of the signing isn't known, we have been told that the move is expected to happen barring a breakdown in negotiations or increased interest from other teams. As we have seen already with Frank Gore, things can change quickly so nothing is truly official until the player signs on the dotted line.
Robinson was drafted in the first round by the Saints in the 2010 NFL Draft. Over six seasons, he has 180 tackles, 1 sack and 46 passes defended. According to Pro Football Focus, he had a 0.1 overall rating last year over 624 snaps. His run defense grade was 0.2 and his pass rush grade was -0.9. His pass coverage grade was -0.1. In 2013, Robinson was placed on injured reserve and missed 14 games after injuring his knee. He had missed six games in his career prior to that dating back to 2010.
Robinson can play both inside and outside so he definitely has the versatility the Dolphins need in the secondary. He will likely compete for a starting job opposite Brent Grimes but if the Dolphins lose Jimmy Wilson in free agency, he makes sense as the slot corner replacement.
