Todd got the deal done for Ronnie, let's hope he fails on the next one! Nate Clements(Buf CB) wants to be the highest paid in the league. He believes he is the best. Well, let Buffalo begin the Todd France game.

Todd is getting himself a reputation w/ all these high dollar deals. I thought Rosenhaus and Steinberg were tough. This could make him land two of the biggest deals in just a few weeks or months. His pockets are beginning to swell as is his ego I am sure. Good thing Ronnie is on a 5 year deal.

Are there any other Fins' w/ this guy? Hope not. Well, unless it is a good luck charm and his players pan out to be the best.

Good luck Bills.

Looks like SD is willing to tick off Gates!! Making him sign the 1 yr tender of $380,000 and threatening to sit him wk 1 and beyond! I say he needs Todd! If McMike has problems or dosen't resign w/ the Fins, there is another guy out there.

todd is doing the same stuff any agent would do..nothing new

Todd France has done nothing to make me think he should be considered either a great agent or a menace to the sport of football. He seems to have done his job pretty well with Ronnie, but I think I'd want a longer track record like Drew's or Leigh Steinberg's if I were picking an agent.

sometimes those agents have too many pple to focus on and players get the feeling that they wont get the needed attention and they think they should deserve..plus todd must of had one hell of a pitch line to land some of the guys he has

I think this is where Marty is a little, well, alot stupid! You are willing to sit your best recieving weapon and redzone weapon for 1 and maybe more games.

Marty is saying he will sit Gates the final 2 pre-season games and the 1st reg. seas. game and add a rg.seas. game suspension for every pre-seas. gm/ missed due to not signing the deal. Well that means Gates could miss alot of time. $380,000. Get real! He could sit the entire year and make more in a bonus next year to make up for the $380,000. He is working towards Gonzo money.

Marty, Marty,Marty!!!!!

Marty is an old school coach. He is always going to have that "no player is more important than the team" attitude. I for one actually like it. Gates is in a spot. The Chargers own his rights, and it will stay that way forever if he keeps sitting out. He and his agent need to recognize the situation they're in and think very carefully about their strategy to maximize the money Gates makes. Sometimes, the only option really is to sign what the team will give you.

Todd did nothing wrong w/ Ronnie, he was trying to get the most he could. He got a little less than he wanted, yet he got it done and got Ronnie in camp. Officially Ronnie was not a hold out. He had no contract, so there is no hold out. Ward was a hold out. He had a contract.

I hope France turns out to be the kind of guy who shoots for it all, but knows what is fair and get's the deal done and the player into camp. Ther really needs to be a cap on the young guys. Like in the NBA. A maximum for the first 3 years and then it can go up. Make them prove themselves like everyone else. The vets should shoot for it. It will prolong their careers and keep more money in their pockets.

Paying the unproven can cramp a team and keep them from being able to pay a vet all that much more. Maybe even leading to letting guys go before their time. It may also restore just a little loyalty to the game.

Agree, but if he sits, it only hurts the chargers. they need to save the space for him. They do not want to cause to much of a riff between them.

I to like it, only if the coaches and owners would collaborate on an unwritten rule of ethics of handling these situations. Like letting him sit and no team show interest in a player that is willing to sit. I know it is a reach but something could be done. Like in the TO situation, release him and no team sign him knowing the Eagles are doing it as a disiplinary action. Then TO (or any player) would need to crawl back to the team and beg for their contract to be reinstated. Only to find it has slightly dropped.

If you actually held teams liable for the gaudy $$$ in the 4th,5th,6th years of these deals, you would not see absud contracts for Ty Law and a 7 year $80 million deal that will never be materialized(Not sure on Law's deal just threw a # in) Make teams pay the deal, and teams will not offer such high deals. If they cut a player for any reason other than being beat out thus leading to an outright release, make them pay it out. This does not need to be a quantum physics problem. It would be simple addition and subtraction w/ a little division and multiplication. A 7th grader could work the cap.
