just curious..but were those bogus reports that john clayton reported couch close to signing....any SOLID info would be very much appreciated

on this very site yesterday...obviously its false or i suppose we'd have heard otherwise

hmm...apparently i'm the only one who noticed this post yesterday..sorry for making useless thread...again any info would be nice

I Heard Also That He Was Close To Signing, I Heard It Here Yesturday Also.
Did It Happen Or Was Ot Bs?

Close to signing could mean any time in the next couple of weeks. Guess we'll have to wait and see what happens, but among the group of clowns that espn has discussing the NFL, Clayton is probably the most reliable with his info. IMO.

glad to hear a few others heard this..i was waiting for the ole..."you must be smokin w/ricky" lines..hah

honestly, im excited to see if he can compete for the starting job

I am the one who made the post. Read what I wrote carefully. I said I did not get to hear Clayton's full commentary on the topic, only that when he summarized at the end of his weekly radio segment that he said that Couch was moving close signing with the dolphins. I did not say it was imminent and we must remember Couch is still on the open market, so anything could happen.

I tried not to get people all excited and tried to present it just as I heard it. I thought it was interesting news and I thought other Dolphin fans would also be interested.

I am not sure if you are calling my post bogus, or Clayton's comments. I will remember not to post until pen has met paper in the future.

I personally think we won't sign couch until next offseason, if we sign him at all.

Ive said it yesterday and I say it again today. I read it somewhere, but I cant remember the link. Besides that guys....It makes sense!
3 things we have learned from Saban:
1) He wants to win asap, and will bring in anybody who he feels can upgrade this team
2) He doesnt like to relinquish draft picks
3) The local media has no clue what he is thinking or planning to do regarding personnel decisions.
That being said, he could bring in Couch, sign him for a cheap contract, as a #3 Qb and see what he does after he is completelly healed and has comand of the offense.
In the meantime he can hide Rosenfeld in a list like the PUP, and bring him back during the season if the Couch project doesnt work.

Why wait to next season when he can sign him now and have him learn Linehan's offense while Feeley/Frerotte play.
By next year they will have a clear understanding as what Couch brings to the table. Is he the guy that can lead this team in the future, or is he washed-out?
Saban would love to have that Qb by next year, specially if it doesnt cost him any draft picks.
Look how long it has taken to determine which qb should start. It takes a long time to thoroughly determine that (unless be come across another Marino). So having Couch here all that time could bring in huge rewards next year.
