Read more:http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sport...dislodged-quarterbacks-help-the-dolphins.htmlThe Dolphins are hosting 49ers starting quarterback Alex Smith.
Alex Smith, a former No. 1 pick, turned his career around last season with the 49ers. The unrestricted free agent is visiting the Dolphins today.
But Smith sure seems like a good fit.
Smith, who completed 61.3 percent of his passes last season, throwing for 3,144 yards and 17 touchdowns (five interceptions), could potentially become a long-term solution for Miami.
Despite Smith’s struggles earlier in his career it seems he turned the page in 2011, and began blossoming under Jim Harbaugh’s tutelage.
Smith, who was supposedly finalizing a three-year deal with the 49ers that would have paid him $24 million, is reportedly considering firing agent Tom Condon, who also represents Manning.
Fearing the worst – which is that Manning will steal his playoff team – Smith’s presently searching for work, and is landing in Miami at 8:30am this morning.
The Dolphins are hosting Matt Flynn this weekend, and working towards finalizing a deal. A contract hasn’t been agreed to as of Sunday morning. Flirting with Smith, exploring the team’s options, COULD force Flynn’s camp to get a deal done with Miami quickly.
Or maybe the Dolphins would prefer Smith?
Smith’s presence in Miami could create a sense of urgency seeing as how the Dolphins are Flynn’s best shot at becoming a starter in 2012, and his options are dwindling.
If Manning steals Smith’s team then Miami and Seattle would likely become desirable landing spots for the former Utah standout.
