"We did a little bit of that," Brady said. "For example, the one I threw to Danny [Amendola] on our sideline where [Brandon] LaFell got called for pass interference. We are running a slant route and the guy runs into LaFell and they call us for P.I. Things like that came up yesterday that I kind of shake my head at and say we run a simple pattern and they call us for a penalty. Those are just some of the things that happen that we have to try to overcome.

WTF is he talking about? LaFell needs to be fined for a cheap shot. He hit Wilson hard enough to knock his helmet off. The audio picked up the noise of the hit.

Brady being Brady being a Patriot.

Sent from my Nexus 7 FHD

What did you expect?

Brady: "They beat us fair and square"

Now tell me, has this EVER been heard before? Ever?

"seriously honey...I just tripped and my dick sorta fell in"

does anyone have video of this? pictures are nice but sometimes can be a bit misleading.

You should've shown a mili-second before the hit where he lowered his shoulder. I know the first screen grab starts to show it

If it was college ball LaFell would've been ejected for targeting. This is the play that knocked Jimmy Wilson out cold. Ragdolled. When is the last time a DB got TKO'd by an incidental hit on a pick route?

I am not saying the original post or any of you guys are wrong I just like to see things for myself if possible.

Attention Jim1 - further evidence of Tom Brady's great sportsmanship. He has been a great player but he is also amongst the greatest whiners.

nyjunc -- just buy NFL GAME REWIND here: https://gamerewind.nfl.com/nflgr/secure/schedule

You can see all games and all replay that way.

Suffice to say that the hit that knocked out Wilson was anything but incidental -- but it is also a hit that Patriots are used to getting by with (just w. a crumpled player on the ground it's hard to ignore).

Tommie Bradie is the classic example of an athlete being treated like a god for so long that he starts thinking he is one. He sounds incredulous that his receiver runs a pick and gets penalized. Maybe the Patsie/Bradie magic is starting to lose its luster and karma has started to swing our way. I hope the Vikings beat the crap out of them in week 2 so the excuse train keeps rolling. The Vikings look capable of doing just that.

Rule 8 Section 5 Article 2 of the NFL rule book
PROHIBITED ACTS
Article 2 Prohibited Acts by both teams while the ball is in the air. Acts that are pass interference include, but are not
limited to:
(a) Contact by a player who is not playing the ball that restricts the opponent’s opportunity to make the catch.
(b) Playing through the back of an opponent in an attempt to make a play on the ball.
(c) Grabbing an opponent’s arm(s) in such a manner that restricts his opportunity to catch a pass.
(d) Extending an arm across the body of an opponent, thus restricting his ability to catch a pass, and regardless of
whether the player committing such act is playing the ball.
(e) Cutting off the path of an opponent by making contact with him, without playing the ball.
(f) Hooking an opponent in an attempt to get to the ball in such a manner that it causes the opponent’s body to turn prior
to the ball arriving.
(g) Initiating contact with an opponent by shoving or pushing off, thus creating a separation in an attempt to catch a pass.
Note: If there is any question whether player contact is incidental, the ruling should be no interference.
Article 2(c) was done when Finnegan broke on the ball and it wasn't called. Should have been offensive pass interference.

Rule 8 Section 5 Article 4 of the NFL rule book
OTHER PROHIBITED ACTS BY THE OFFENSE
Article 4 Other Prohibited Acts By the Offense. Blocking more than one yard beyond the line of scrimmage by an
offensive player prior to a pass being thrown
is offensive pass interference.
Note: It is also pass interference by the offense to block a defender beyond the line while the pass is in the air, if the block
occurs in the vicinity of the player to whom the pass is thrown
.
Seems pretty cut and dry to me.

does anyone have video of this? pictures are nice but sometimes can be a bit misleading.

No video needed. One can see just by the sequence of the two photos presented by the OP that pass-interference was the correct call.

By rule, paraphrasing (and this was highlighted/happened in a couple of other pre-season games with other teams)...if a block occurs on a defender within the proximity of ANOTHER offensive player receiving the pass, and the pass has not been thrown yet, that constitutes offensive pass interference (a la...an illegal pick).

Here's how it's worded from the Web site SportingCharts.com (http://www.sportingcharts.com/dictionary/nfl/offensive-pass-interference.aspx):
Sporting Charts explains Offensive Pass Interference
Offensive pass interference is most often called when the offensive player makes an obvious attempt to shove the defender away from him in order to get open to catch a pass. The official will look to see if the defender could have made a play on the ball if the contact hadn't occurred. If so, the official will throw the flag. The other common form of offensive pass interference is the pick play. An offensive player will intentionally run into a defender to allow a teammate to get open. The pick is illegal, and pass interference will be called.

Here it is straight from the NFL Rule Book - Rule 8, Section 5, Ariticle 4:
Article 4: Other Prohibited Acts By the Offense. Blocking more than one yard beyond the line of scrimmage by an offensive player prior to a pass being thrown is offensive pass interference. Note: It is also pass interference by the offense to block a defender beyond the line while the pass is in the air, if the block occurs in the vicinity of the player to whom the pass is thrown.

Perhaps we should send this off to the NE Offensive Coordinator to refresh his memory. The rules apply to ALL 32 NFL teams, even though the Patriots may not feel the same way. :boohoo:
