News came out yesterday that the Houston Texans have placed D.J. Swearinger on the trade block, with this tweet from Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network:
Would the Dolphins front office be interested?
D.J. Swearinger is a safety that has been known to make big hits. This guy will compete with the receiver to make the interception and race across the field to prevent a large gain in the run game. He's a former team captain and four year starter at South Carolina.
The Dolphins currently have Louis Delmas opposite Reshad Jones, which proved to be a good combination until Delmas got injured 2014. And the issue with Delmas, is that he gets injured often.
Swearinger has $1.6 million left on his two year deal, and would be a cheap option if the Dolphins wanted to add some insurance into the safety position.
The only slight hitch here is that Swearinger didn't perform well in 2014. But would he still be worth, say, a 2015 fifth round pick for the Dolphins? Could the Dolphins get Swearinger playing like he did in 2013?
The Dolphins front office have shown they are willing to trade draft picks for NFL players, and this could be a deal the team may just consider.
Do you agree? Would D.J. Swearinger be a good addition to the team?

Hmm, interesting.

It was Swearinger that destroyed Keller's knee in preseason wasn't it?

The guy that ruined Dustin Kellers knee. I don't want that cheap shot artist on my team

Hope not, this is the low life that ended Dustin Keller's career in the preseason

I like Delams but with that injury history and a new knee.... eh....

5th rounder? Sure why not.

Whats left on Swearinger contract?

Known to make big hits? More like take cheap shots. Isn't this the guy that ended Dustin Keller's career?

Eh.... i feel bad for Dustin and wish that hit wouldn't of happened.

But with the new NFL rules it basically forces players to go after knees.

Dirty player, would hate to have to cheer for him.

It is going to be tough enough waiting for Suh to do something unsupportable as it is.

No thanks. Especially for his justification for going at Keller's knees saying he'd get fined if he went for the head.

Bring back Incog we can have the All-Pro bully team.

He's an old school DB. What people now call cheap shots were regular hits in the past.

Isn't he a Strong safety?

This guy also gave Welker a concussion on a dirty hit. Which is turn caused Peyton to get in his face and say F you. If Peyton got mad you know its legit

Well.... with this $Billion lawsuit coming down on the NFL they would rather players end each others careers blowing out knees than getting concussions.

It's all subjective.

Look at the top FS/SS. John Lynch made a living from blowing up WR's with 'dirty hits' and blind sides.

Dawkins, Sean Taylor (RIP)....etc
