I see that we will be bringing in speedy Abilene Christian wide out Johnny Knox for a visit next week. I got a chance to see this guy put up some impressive numbers at the combine (4.29, 4.34 in the 40). I believe that he also returns kicks, so drafting him could possibly give us an exlposive return man and alleviate Tedd Ginn from return duty so he can be fresh for route running. What are your thought/opinions on this guy?

I can't see the Welker comparison at all but it's more like Knox could be our next Ted Ginn.

Davone Bess is our next Wes Welker.
I do like Davone Bess, but I just don't see him having that explosive straight line speed that can be game changing, he's more of a possesion reciever that can move the chains. Don't get me wrong, moving the chains is good, but our offense needs points this year and I think by the guys the FO are targeting, we will be making a concerted effort to make this happen.

That's all Wes Welker is/was.

When did Welker have explosive straight line speed or was game changing?

I agree with Goon...we already have one in Bess...in fact we have two...Camarillo is a pretty good Welker-type also....

I like Knox. I think the Fins should try to go DE/LB with the first/2nd round picks and hopefully get Knox after that or trade down their 1st pick and pick him up. Guy has great hands, good speed and runs good routes but from a small school. He probably is going to be just as good if not better than any other receiver in this years draft.

dont mind me while i comment on the actual topic here...........

the only kind of receiver we need is a big possession/red-zone guy....

Regardless of what all the naysayers want to think, Ginn is progressing nicely for someone who was very RAW coming in...
He commands extra attention from defenses because of his elite speed. Camarillo and Bess are quality contributers who are excellent in the slot but have proved they can start and produce. When we get that big, go-to guy.... We're SET at WR. We don't need another KR either... between Bess, Cobbs, etc.. i think Ginn will only get the crucial returns anyways.
