If the Chiefs are looking for more compensation, would they be interested in shoring up their line with a guy like Shelton?

1. The Chiefs are now very thin up front with the retirements of Roaf and Shields, plus the departure of Jordan Black. I also read yesterday, that Chris Terry has a warrant out on him in Georgia for missing a probable cause hearing. His eventual surrender/arrest is likely to bring a league suspension of at least a couple of games.

2. Shelton is already well versed in the Chiefs offense because their style is similar to ours. Shelton would also offer the Chiefs versatility in his ability to play tackle and guard.

3. While Shelton is currently a starter on our depth chart, we could probably replace him with a younger, cheaper upgrade. Depending on what shakes out in the draft, we could even consider taking a center and moving Hadnot back to guard, where he was most effective.

I think a 6th rounder + Shelton + some other late round pick next year, is more than adequate compensation for a QB that was likely to be released anyway.

We're pretty thin on the o-line ourselves. I say we wait it out with the Chiefs. There not going to want to keep a guy they don't want for $7 million a year on their roster. Time is on our side, yes it is!

No offense but why would trade our starting RG who Camron is verry proud off.

I don't like this idea much. Our line is precariously thin itself, why would we want to get rid of one of our better o-linemen (after the move to RG) from last year?

Right now we're already looking at a new LT, new LG and possibly new C for next season. It would be nice to keep the right side of the line intact, especially considering Shelton and Carey played pretty well over there.

I'm extremely not in favor of giving Shelton to the Chiefs. I'll go one farther to say that we should not trade Shelton at all. An agreement will be reached by Friday night, I feel confident in that. Hopefully the Chiefs settle on a 6th round choice. Quite frankly Trent Green isn't worth much more than that.

But aside from trade value it's imperative that we keep the good parts of our OLine in tact. Hadnot, Shelton and Carey anchored that right side last year and made it a strength for our team. Ronnie and Sammy found the running room plentiful on the right side compared to the left. There is no reason to break up the Shelton/Carey tandem. Especially when you consider that Offensive line is a group based on trust and cohesion. We're already going to have at least 2, if not more, new starters on the line this coming year. If we continue to turnover our line each year these guys are never going to gel and become a solid unit. That means that whether we have Ronnie, Ricky, AP, LT, Shaun Alexander, whomever they're never going to realize their full potential behind a broken down O Line. And any QB we have, Green, Quinn, CPep, Lemon, whomever is never going to have time to let a play develop before they're sacked. And where exactly are we going to get this "young guy" to step up and replace Shelton? I honestly feel that Toledo is not ready to step up and be a starter. You mentioned moving Hadnot back to G which could happen after the draft anyway if we land a C like Kalil. But you still have to fill the other hole at G that you created by letting Shelton go. At that point you're just creating more holes on a team that already has a laundry list of needs.

I'll admit I'd laugh my *** off at the Chiefs for trying to replace Roaf and Shields with LJ Shelton.

I dont have any problem waiting out Green. Panic and faulty logic made us give up too much for Harrington last year.

I just really don't have a problem waiting until Green is released and not giving the Chiefs anything. Green has stated that he wants to come here and won't restructure, and parameters of a new deal with us has already been agreed upon (based on news reports). So, it almost seems like a no-brainer to me to just wait until the release, thereby giving up nothing.

I think Shelton is worth more to us than a late round pick, either this year or next. He was our best lineman behind Carey last year once he settled at RG, good run blocker.

I don't think it would be wise to trade a starter for their 3rd string QB who they will definately release at somepoint anyway.

We cant afford to loose anyone else on the line.

Dude, pass that ****...nah, don't. I gave that marijuana up years ago. But really stop smoking dog...:shakeno:

Ya I don't think I like the idea of giving up anything for Green, I'd say at most a 6th or 7th plus a conditional '08 pick. It's pretty much widely agreed upon that the Chief's GM is being irrational as far as expected compensation goes.

As for giving up Shelton, I haven't been impressed with him at all but we have like 3 linemen at the moment, so I can't see us giving up any of them.

take shelton out of the equation and trade those picks for green.

how can anyone really suggest we get rid of any offensive lineman? have you seen our team?
