Could New Orleans get the "Cleveland Plan."

Why does everyone keep saying that L.A. wants a team ? They've had numerous chances over the past decade but they can never get a deal done. If they really wanted a team, they would have one.

I know it's a top TV market, but there are exceptions. Green Bay only has 100k people, but they do very well there. L.A. has a ton of people but won't support a team. I wish the NFL would stop pushing so hard to get a team in there.

New Orleans will not get the Cleveland plan. New Orleans was barely an NFL market before the hurricane, and after the storm, its population will be half what it was and its corporate base possibly even less than that. New Orleans' case for an NFL team will be slightly better than that of Salt Lake City.

Los Angeles has had the last decade and a half to put together an ownership group and a stadium plan. They have made zero progress.

For the next couple of years, the best solution for the Saints is relocation to San Antonio and the Alamodome. The fact that San Antonio has already sold out one game and almost a second on extremely short notice is testament to the fan and corporate base there. Over the longer term, the Saints will need a stadium somewhere around New Braunfels or San Marcos to develop a "Central Texas" strategy. San Antonio by itself is a mid-30s market, but if you combine San Antonio and Austin, you get into the teens and Austin has a lot more corporate money and disposable income.

That being said, Jerry Jones hated Houston getting back into the NFL. Jerry will fight tooth and nail to keep a second NFC team out of Texas.

The state of Texas doesn't deserve anymore football teams. If they move from New Orleans why not go to a big football state that doesn't have a pro team, like Oklahoma, Oregon, or Nebraska. California has plenty of teams too.
