All the talk I've heard over the last couple of hours on ESPN, is about how the Dolphins will try and showcase Ricky in order to trade him THIS year. I have always taken the stance that they wouldn't be able to trade him until next year, if at all.

Anyway, if they do find a trade partner before the trade deadline......I wonder if a the following scenario could play out where Ricky could play 13 games for his new team.

We trade him after one of our games, say our 3rd or 4th game, to a team that hasn't played yet that week, say they're playing on MNF, Ricky would miss our game due to suspension and his new team's game that next night.....serving 2 games of his 4-game suspension in 1 week.

Now I understand that the chances of this working out would be remote, and the other team would need to have an eary bye week like us.....but do you think that it would fly by NFL rules. I don't see how it couldn't be allowed.

screw trading him. he is the best back on our team.

the same was true in late july last year. see how good that worked out for us. no one here should make the mistake of counting on Ricky Williams. i'm sure that Nick Saban is not making that mistake. As long as he is in a Dolphin uniform, I will root for him. But I will never again make the mistake of depending on him.

Ronnie Brown will be in by week 1 and if he isn't starting the whole year, we made a large draft mistake. Ronnie is the future (hopefully), Ricky will forever be a huge question mark.

why trade ricky when we get a RB of his caliber for vet minimum ? i think the phins should run him for all he's worth unless he starts doggin it but i dont think he'd do that to begin with.the phins are gettin a bargain here no matter what he did in the past he cant do much about it now other than play out his contract or retire again.

What if some team were offering, say, a 4th round pick for Ricky. We decline because of the things you said in your post. Then Ricky fails a drug test a couple of days later. Or maybe he runs off to India, or Tibet, or bumfu*k Egypt.
Wouldnt that 4th rounder look awfully good then?

Ricky will be playing for the Dolphins this year, or not at all. Why trade him? What would we get for a guy that can help us win an extra 4 games more, than last year....

"no one here should make the mistake of counting on ricky"

and no other team or front office should do it either, and they probably wont.

if the fins showcase him for a trade, and he shows he is still very good, the best i could see us getting is like a conditional 6th rounder or a 7th rounder...seriously guys, think with your heads and be REALISTIC. you guys all want to trade him cuz he is unreliable, maybe unstable...oh but other organizations dont know that, huh? get real.

Yeah I heard Oak will give us a 7th and if he plays well enough that it could become a 6th..

I heard that there is a 90% chance that he will have to sit 4 games. Michele Tofoya(? spelling) said something about it on ESPNradio today. Is the suspension not already passed down. What is the real deal.

Dude, read my original post, I don't think that we will be able to trade him....but a lot of people today have speculated that we could and would. i just brought up a different angle of it.

And my above comment was in reply to someone who seemed to have much too much confidence in what Ricky will provide for this team.

If we gonna trade Ricky this year, who you guys think gonna run the ball for us? one thing for sure tho, doing this we are going to make our division opponents very happy....big time happy.

Really, why trade a guy that is a talent like RW for little or nothing? He only wants to play 2 years. Who will cough up anything higher than a 5th for that?

We will keep him. The talking heads just want a reason to harp on RW and the Fins' I believe Saban only would take RW back if RW is set to play hard and w/ a passion. The talking heads are guessing and know nothing. Like they believe he will be a miserable failure. Name 1 single person that is at a major media outlet that says he will be successful.

Why?

B/C they will be in w/all the others if they are wrong. If they go the other way, they would be called out by everybody else.
