Now again, I really hate those Bills, but Sam Wyche would be a top notch addition to our coaching staff. If we decide to draft a QB in the 1st round, do you really want him being tutored only by Jason Garrett, a guy that just ended his playing career a year ago? Have two QB coaches! Let Garrett have the title of assistant QB coach, or passing game coach or some sort of new title and give Wyche the title of QB coach for the time being. When Wyche moves on, hand it to Garrett, who will be smarter and better after learning from this guy.

If you didnt know, Wyche and Mularkey are very close and its actually Wyche that gave Mularkey his first ever coaching job. Now the question is, depending on who the Bills hire as coach, will this guy want to keep Wyche around, or will he grant us permission to speak with him. He likely will want his own guy, so its a definite possibility.

I have always liked Sam Wyche and think he is a very good coach. I would welcome the idea of having him on our staff.

That would be kind of a slap in the face to Garrett though, who some were hyping as a possible OC candidate.

I dont think its a slap in the face, no more then it would be to Muschamp and Smith if we bring in Capers. Look, Saban is going to assemble the best possible staff and he isnt going to worry about hurting someone's feelings. Its not like he is here to replace Garrett- Wyche is no youngster. Just a year or two to work with whoever we choose as our franchise QB but also to provide Garrett with someone to learn from. I think Garrett would appreciate the opportunity to learn from a guy that could make him a much better coach in the future.

It wasn't hype. Garrett was one of three people interviewed for the position.

Sorry bad word choice. What I meant was, if Saban liked him enough to consider him for OC, why would he consider bumping him to assistant QB coach?

Because someone better comes along who can help Garrett have a better future.

Sam Wyche hasn't been fired by Buffalo. Ralph Wilson has said that he plans on retaining him.

No he hasnt been fired, but a new head coach would likely give him permission to speak to a new team, so he could bring in his own guys. Ralph can say what he wants, but it will ultimately be the new HCs decision.

Obviously you don't know what's been happening here in Buffalo.

Ralph has already stated that the new head coach is going to have to retain certain personel. Our Oline coach, special teams coach, and QB coach.

Well, I dont know if thats true. I know McNally and April are staying, but I havent heard anything about Sam Wyche yet. You wuld think and hope so, I respect the guy and think he knows QB's. if Miami got him, it would be a nice addition for their whole organization.

Ralph Wilson consulted with Sam Wyche over teama problems at the end of the season... before he even met with Mularkey.

I respect Wyche, but at this point in Mularkey's career he would probably be better served without the constant 'Wicky-Wacky' influence. Most of the MM criticism seems to stem from his ‘Inspector Gadget’ tendencies. He did his best work when balanced with Cower’s power running philosophies. Something for Saban to figure out…
