When we acquired him last year, he was moved to LG to give Jake Long some help. Smiley has played both sides of the line in college and the pros. Moving Smiley back to RG and helping Carey on the right side might make the line more effective next year. I know the draft and FA will help to determine the makeup of next year's line, but I think the Fins should consider moving him to the right side if they can. What do you guys think?

whatever our coaches decide to do with Smiley IF he can/does come back i'm totally ok with....

as long as smiley and thomas come back healthy, with satele moving to guard, and a another guard picked up for depth, we should be fine....especially concidering the quality of names we've had thrown around at center...

I am not sure that would make much of a difference.. we need solid guard play on both sides of the ball.. moving him wouldnt change much if anything

Long still needs Smiley's experience to continue his development. I doubt the coaches move him.

Having someone healthy really helps the team. Not having him playing with us will not affect the outcome of how Long plays but it will affect the outcome of how consistent we stay within the position he plays and offense in general.

I think whatever we do with him has to be backed up with finding his replacement. I can see Smiley being one of those guys who gets seriously injured every year. If we can get Balt. Center in FA then our line would be fine with Samson backing up both guard and center spots at some point in the year he would have to play significant time for Smiley.
