Personally, because the story was reported by Mort there is most likely some validity to it. But playing devils advocate here. Could this be a smoke screen? Since Parcells and the rest of our FO has ties to the Cowboys is it possible they are simply doing us a favor in leaking the trade rumors forcing other potential trade partners make theirselves known???

This all just seems too good to be true for the Dolphins. And because the past few seasons have been so dissapointing I am a little hesitant to believe the story. But like I said with Mort being the one who reported it I cant help but think there has to be something to these rumors. Thoughts???

We're still a good while away from April's Draft. Anything and everything should be looked at as a smokescreen. I encourage everyone, to keep an open mind and try not too fall in madly in love with a certain scenario.

I actually hope it. I really would hate for us to fall so deep in the draft. Maybe we can trade with Falcons,Ravens,Raiders. I want us to at least get one of these players(Dorsey, J. Long, Chris Long, Sedrick Ellis) if we draft out of top ten we can't get those guys.

It is more than possible shag

Exactly im falling in love with this senario. And I just dont want to get too excited and then be dissapointed

Mortensen is a mouth piece for Parcells.

He was in Dallas; I expect it will continue in Miami.

Its interesting that all of these rumors are coming out of Miami, but nothing is really being said in Dallas....Parcells likes multiple picks. I don't doubt he is trying to garner interest in the 1st overall pick. Problem is, teams rarely trade up for the #1 overall pick because of the contract associated with it. Which bears another reason why I don't think we'll trade up for your pick... That's a lot of money to commit to just one player. Especially when Ware, Newman, Barber, Canty are going to need extensions in the near future. We are a passing team....committing $30M guaranteed to a RB isn't the best idea in the world.

I don't doubt Jerry likes Darren. But I do doubt Jerry is willing to pay the necessary price to move up.

I seriously doubt any trade gets done.

And that's probably how it should be.

Buzzkill.

But you're right.

The other half of this is....if we really want McFadden, why are we trading with you?

Why wouldn't we trade with Atlanta? The cost of trading up to #3 overall is much cheaper. Its a lot less money in guarantees to the 3rd overall than the 1st overall.

And McFadden isn't going to be taken by you guys at #1. Nor will he go to the Rams at 2.

He'd be there at 3.

Why wouldn't we trade up where its cheaper?

I look at it as a looney owner who will get what he wants at all costs

sure smokescreens are all around, but setting it for another team? not likely

In the past, I would agree. But he curtailed it during Parcells tenure.

And this past year, he wanted to trade up for Adrian Peterson. But ultimately decided not to do it because the cost was too much. The Lions asked for a mint, he declined.

And again, even if Jerry does want McFadden.... why would we make the trade with you when we could do it with Atlanta for a much cheaper price?

I mean, if he's infatuated with McFadden........Atlanta makes more sense than Miami....

Dallas knows that Fins want out of the first spot. There is no garentee the Falcons would want to move out of the top 10.

I'm not sure Atlanta makes more sense

Yes and no. The price to deal with Atlanta would be cheaper, no doubt, but Atlanta could also very well want to select McFadden. That franchise is in desperate need of a new face, and McFadden could provide instant excitement (and keep fans in the seats). Miami (or St Louis) would be safer choices because it is unlikely either franchise would select McFadden.
