with the new projected f/a cuts and all i was wondering if we are thinking about beefing up the defense thru f/a and beefing up our neglected offense ? here is what i am sort of thinking here. (1st) we will trade up ,yet sacrifice little ? we may draft a stud wr in rd 1 and get qb stanton in rd 2 and spend the rest of the draft on oline.

I like how you think, but there is no way we move up in this draft without giving up too much. I think we take the best defensive player on the board (assuming Quinn and Russell are already gone) and take Stanton in round two. The rest of the draft will be executed by the best player available rule. Rip it up....

:hmmm: I'm a little confused as to what your suggesting.

You wanna trade up in the 1st to draft a stud WR. Okay the only WR that will probably go before #9 is Calvin Johnson, which will go Top 4 at the least. To trade up that high we would have to give up considerable picks, including the 2nd you suggest we use on Stanton.

I don't see it happening that way at all.
 
We will not trade up and sacrifice little. If we trade up we will sacrifice much, don't kid youself.

Teams that trade up are teams with few holes in their lineup like Pittsburgh or the Colts.

We, on the other hand, look like a target board at a shooting range.

We will not trade up to get Johnson or Quinn because WE CAN'T AFFORD IT!

If anything we will trade down if there is a partner.
 
We would have to get before Tampa to get Calvin (if that is who you want). It would cost way too much.

Here is your answer from Mueller himself.

"For the next two or three years, we need an influx of young talent on our team," Mueller said. "If we say the free-agent class this year is so-so, it puts even more pressure on the draft to hit on those players. I wish we had a bunch more picks."
 
sorry if my idea was so stupid i was just thinking about how cool it would be to get a superstar wr that wouls scare defenses and we could have a offensive player that the media would talk about us more. ronnie brown doesnt wow anyone in the media and that was one reason i wanted adrian peterson if he fell to us but we still have ricky and maybe ronnie will become more popular nationwide next year.
i am wanting us to win but i want ust to get good pub intead of all the bad publicity like morris and ricky did last year.

Who cares what the media thinks?


They were all on the Miami bandwagon last year when we got Daunte then all jumped off and said we were terrible and made a mistake getting him. The media likes winners. Winning is far more important than the media's opinion.
 
I personally could care less about good publicity, not that I want our players getting into legal trouble or anything negative (failed UAs) But I see many solid, young guys in FA.

i think we should go with a Dplayer that can make a quick inpact like Alan Branch or Laron LanDry then second roud go troy smith if he is there then go best skilled player that are there
